Session 14, June 23rd, 2007

Dianysia: "Wait, I forgot somethin! I'll be right back!"

Dianysia: (That was in Elven)

Deladriel looks at Dianysia with confusion
Deladriel shrugs

Dianysia races back to the room that was prviously Tristanu's, Jayde in tow. She quickly gathers some of his belongings, attaches them in odd ways to her puppy, and returns to the part.

Deladriel: "Ready now?"

Dianysia: "Yes, sorry. Lead on.

Deladriel begins to lead the way

Dianysia follows

Deladriel takes up a stride aside Dia
Deladriel: E - “Why your people talk to you like that...have no respect for master?" ((To Dia))

Dianysia: E - Pardon?

Deladriel: "Your servants...they speak to you as if same as you"

Dianysia: Dia looks confused. E - "When did they do that?"

Deladriel: "One talks back to you before mudfight...other threw mud at you...no servant throws mud at master like that"

Bethany: While the two elf-orcs talked, Bethany looked around throughout the woods, idly picking at the glob of dried mud on her fatigue blouse. The mud had annoyed her greatly, she valued her clothing and she did not know if she would be able to keep it in tact long, she was not about to acclerate the process. She enjoied the sight of the trees, and part of her knew she didn't want to return home, but at the same time, she knew nothing of this place, had nothing here. She let out a verbal sigh.

Dianysia: E- "Oh, that. I give them some leeway with such. They are good at what they do, and good help can be so hard to find. Does this bother you? If so, I may speak with them."

Deladriel looks in awe at Dia..."You do that for me? I cannot say what you do with them...they are yours alone"

Deladriel bows at Dia...looking as if she has done wrong
Deladriel continues to lead the party without saying more...(Shift to cat)

Dianysia: E - "Well, yes, I could do that for you, as a sign of appreciation for... what are you doing?"
Dianysia stares a moment in confusion, then falls behind to the rest of the group. "Um... something strange is going on..."
Dianysia: "Are you okay?"

Bethany: Looks over at Dianysia, saying in Draconic, "I'll be fine, I've lost everything before."

Dianysia: D - "What do you mean?"

Bethany: D- "Everything on me is all that I have of my past, and no hope of ever getting it again..." she says, before pulling a little black box, which seems to have some earmuffs tied to it, which she puts over her ears and pushes a button on the box.

Dianysia: D - "Excuse me, I was talking to you."
Dianysia taps Beth on her shoulder, signaling her to take off the ear-covers.

Bethany: Taps one 'ear cover' moving it off her ear saying, "Yes?"

Dianysia: D - "May I talk with you? It is, after all, rather rude to plug your ears in the middle of a conversation."

Bethany: D- "What do you wish to talk about," she says, pushing a different button on the box, 'unattching' the ear peices from the box and putting it into a pocket in her blouse.

Dianysia: D - "Well, first, what this rediculous contraption is and why uyou use it whenever you seek to ignore someone."

Bethany: D- "I did not seek to ignore you, you asked me how I was, I answered, you asked to explain, I explained. Most of the time our conversations end there, so I decided to listen to some music."

Dianysia: D - "By plugging your ears? That makes absolutely no sense."

Bethany: Smiles slightly, then says, "There was a time I would of thought the same but, but it is amazing what changes." She pulls the box back out, and reattaches the ear things, taking them completely off and offering them to Dianysia.

Dianysia cautiously takes them and places them over her ears.

Bethany: Pushes one of the buttons again, and looks up at Dianysia. (Sounds like Beatles-esque rock)

Dianysia startles, tosses off the headphones, then exclaims a little loudly. D - "What was that?!"
Dianysia notices Del turn slightly to watch.

Bethany: Carefully picks up the headphones, brushing them off, "It was music. One of the few human bands who were actually allowed to perform."

Dianysia looks at Beth quizzically. D - "I don't know WHAT that was, but it certainly wasn't music."

Bethany: D- "This is some of the best music ever made," Bethany replies, a little hurt.

Dianysia pauses. D - "No offense was meant. Maybe music is different in your world."
Dianysia calls out a little louder. to Del, E - "Everything's all right."

Deladriel turns away as if shocked to be caught looking

Dianysia: D - "One more thing... And I don't think you'll like it so much...But please, please follow my lead."

Bethany: D- "I am following you," Bethany said, "Well following the orc.. sorry, you like to be called elf."

Dianysia: D - "Why must you keep calling us orcs. We're not orcs."
Dianysia: D - "And her name is Deladriel."

Bethany: D- "Because you are to tall to be a goblin, too short to be a bugbear, and not hairy enough, and you are not a human, I figured you were probably some kind of cross of orc and human, although you are from another world so maybe those crosses happen differently."

Dianysia: D - "We're nothing of the sort. We're an older race, older than yours, at least. Well, elves are, at least. Technically, I'm a changeling. You can guess where that name comes from. I can take any arverage humanoid shape, but this is how I was raised."

Bethany: D- "Orcs and Humans came about at the same time, how can a race be older?"

Dianysia: D - "Elves came before Humans or Orcs. Technically, changelings came after humans, as we're a mixed breed, but elves are much older.

Bethany: Shrugs, "Never seen an elf until a few days ago, but according to the church, the world came together will all the races of today at the same time, and who would know better then that of the priests of the Creator."

Dianysia: D - "Maybe in your world, but not ours. Besides, you don't have elves, therefore we've existed outside of your creation anyways."

Bethany: "But you know of the Church?"

Dianysia: D - "Of course. A group of over-informed psychics who's initiates didn't care much for me since I refused to join them although I showed that I had the ability at an early age. Mother doesn't speak to me much because of it." The last part sounded somewhat sad.

Bethany: D- "Well if the Church is in your world and mine, then would it not be reasonable to assume the same creation?"

Dianysia: D - "Perhaps, but why assume such? You don't even have the same races in your world. Unless there was some galactic accident that caused the universe to shatter into a miillion shards and strategically placed specific races in each, which would counter everything science and magic has decided thus far, it's not too likely."

Dianysia: D - "Nevermind the fact that if the universe shattered, then everything would be in chaos and nothing would be strategically placed to start with."

Bethany: D- "You outright dismiss that a god could of organized the world, and your world, in such a way? Perhaps we are even on the same world, just different parts of it?"

Dianysia: D - "I don't believe in God. You can't show him to me, I can't touch it. As far as I know, the God the church represents could actually be some Bugbear wondering around somewhere named Bob that spends his time picking his nose- and fights- with innocent strangers and just felt like calling himself god, and the nickname stuck."

Bethany: D- "God is not in the sight and touch, the conception of a divine is beyond the mortal mind. The Church does not seek to understand the God, merely to protect what the God created, so if there is a Church on your world, and one on mine, then I have to believe they are the same, and that they were placed toe protect the world. I would even be willing to bet a large amount of money that they have a church here."

Dianysia: D - "Yeah, I believe that. And while we're at it, I also quite believe our friend Bob had a crush on me as opposed to intentionally ticking me off. If you believe either of those, I have some ocean front property a few miles up the path here."

Bethany: Only shrugs then says, "I w as never good at proselytizing, so believe what you wish, but I know for a fact that numbers and science do not answer anywhere near all the questions that can be answered. I have tried for a long time to find answers there, and I never did. I did find answers with the Church and the God."

Dianysia: D - "You're with the church? Okay, let's stop this discussion here and now. I had enough of the Church where I came from. They couldn't even keep their low-powered initiates under control. I went through the abyss and back just for not joining. You can think what you want of the church."

Deladriel was licking her fur while she walked

DM: all three of you hear a strange rustling noise coming from somewhere off to the side, something different than the normal sound of trees moving in the wind

Bethany: "I am no longer a member of the Church, I was not one for their order and rules, and I did not cherish spending my remain years with them, especially with little knowledge to how many years there might be. I still believe in the Church on the God though."

Deladriel prowls down to a low stance...staring intently into the bushes

Dianysia: D - "This can't be good...Please, follow my lead if ANYTHING happens."
Dianysia: D - "I think I may have a little more info on this world than you."

Bethany: D- "Why do you keep telling me to follow your lead?"

Dianysia: D - "Because if you don't, you can get us killed. I hope what I've heard is nothing, but I'm not wanting to take a chance."

Deladriel snaps a look to the babbling duo to try to compel them to stop talking with possible enemies around

Bethany: D- "Don't take this the wrong way, but what is to prevent your leadership from getting us killed?"

Dianysia: D - "For once, just trust me. Please."
Dianysia falls silent.

Bethany: D- "I trusted you before, you said one day, and we will continue on to my home. I don't give my trust twice," she says in a whisper.

Dianysia whispers first in Draconic, then an little louder in Elven, "There is something over there."
Dianysia points.

Deladriel growls an acknowledgment...seems like she knew that already

Bethany: d- "It is a forest, probably just some animal who got caught to close to us by surprise."

Dianysia mutters. "Yeah, that's it. Or it could've wanted a snack."

Deladriel shifts to elven form

Bethany: d- "I doubt anything would want to snock on us, most forest animals from what I know prefer smaller, less dangerous pray."

Deladriel states in a quiet voice, but loud enough for Dia to hear..."Hide! Dig into leaves and dirt... vanish!"

Dianysia: D- "Drop and hide."

DM: Dia, you can make out something now... very LARGE shapes (and I'm talking more than 15 ft. long) headed your way

Bethany: Lowers herself to a kneel, getting a little annoyed at the cryptic demanding orders, at the same time as she begins to pull to slender pieces of crystal from a pouch on her pack.

Deladriel gives one final look to make sure the group is hiding...then Shifts back into Cat and begins running TOWARDS the creatures

Dianysia drops, trying to hide in some underbrush while trying to keep an eye on the leopard.

Bethany: Places one of the slender crystals to her forehead, and a brief flash like effect flares, and a silver sheen seems to cover Bethany. (Inertial Armor)

DM: then the shapes are moving forward... they head forward at a good pace, still not really hurrying much... 80 feet closer... and that's close enough that the 3 of you can make out the shapes now... very LARGE insects... quite a bit larger than you... with far, FAR too many legs

Dianysia shifts slightly, drawing her crossbow and loading it, then firing.

DM: yeah, that's a MASSIVE miss...

Deladriel: I am gonna pass them...not close enough for an attack...submit a challenging growl at them and keep running
Deladriel: put me at their tails

Jefferson Harco drops to his stomach and attempts to cover himself in dirt

Bethany: Takes the other slender crystal in her other hand, pressing it to her forehead and a shimmer ripples out from her, stabilizing briefly into a disk shaped field in front of her, before fading into invisibility. (Force Screen)

DM: okay... two of the critters turn, the ones that were closest to Dela, and pursue her... the third continues moving on towards the rest of the group, moving another 80 feet forward (240 ft. away)... the two who turned on Dela attack... both miss

Dianysia: Repeats previous action (Hopefully skipping the "miss", while trying to stay fairly hidden.)

DM: ANOTHER miss

Deladriel: Full round Retreat...100 feet away from them in the opposite direction from the party...and ready to go into a pursuit mode

Jefferson Harco: just still hidden

Bethany: Points at a point, opening the small channel to the astral plane, reaching out with her will to force the required astral matter onto the prime plane, then giving it the same of a winged, faceless, human, before lowering her hand. (Astral Construct)

DM: ok... the 2 continue to follow Dela... and the other continues moving towards the party, now 160 feet away

Dianysia: Try again with the crossbow.

DM: lol, no offense... but you rather suck with that thing. Another whiff.

DM: dela, continuing to play your game of cat & mouse?
Deladriel: of course...as we are discussing....done

Jefferson Harco stands up and hides behind some nearby foliage....

DM: the pursuing one is 80 feet closer

Dianysia: Crossbow AGAIN

DM: the bolt flies true this time, but just bounces off the critter's chitinous skin

Bethany: Closes her eyes and focuses on the things mind for a brief moment, manifesting Deja Vu' but holding the actual completion of the manifestation. (Ready action so that when the thing moves again, he gets Deja Vued to move again.)

Jefferson Harco: move half speed still hiding, to a point were i can be able to come across and flank it when it goes after the main part

DM: the critter moves forward 80 feet, reaching the path the party had been on... headed more or less towards beth & dia... and beth's manifestation goes off... to no effect

Dianysia: I shoot it again w/ crossbow.

DM: it bounces off again

Jefferson Harco: charge and attack its backside!!

DM: that's a hit...

Bethany: Bethany takes a step backwards, as the construct takes a five foot step right, before swinging at the bug, while Bethany thrusts her hand forward causing a swarm of crystals to form and spread out in a cone towards the bug.

DM: the construct cracks into it enough that you see a small chink in the chitin appear... as well as several of your crystals pierce weak points, with some ichor starting to ooze out... and it's the bug's turn

DM: the bug lashes out at the construct...
DM: biting a small chunk out of its hide.

Bethany: The construct steps back from the blow but regains itself.

Dianysia: Okay... Burning hands

DM: your cone of flames wash over the creature... and it actually emits a horrifying sound... and EXTREMELY disgusing smell... as it collapses, smoking (dead)

Dianysia: "Well, that takes care of that."

DM: Unfortunately... it's at this time that the other two decide to stop chasing your kitty cat... they're starting back

Dianysia moves back 30 ft... screw the oncoming bugs!

DM: okay... here's what we've got... the other 2 are 600 feet away, and closing... you've got just over one minute before they get here...

Bethany: Bethany moves to face the upcoming bugs, her construct moving in front of her.

Dianysia: "Any suggestions Beth?"

Bethany: "Thought you were leading? At this point, I am not to worried, let the construct take the beating, they don't seem to be to hardy, if you can burn it again, do it."

Dianysia: "I've got a flaming sphere spell, but only one left. I can tap it with a frost spell, but it'd only tickle it."

Bethany: "Do both if need be, I have a few more options, but I am nearing the end of them..."

Dianysia: "As am I."

Dianysia: I will shoot at the thing once it gets a bit closer... at least one of them...

DM: okay, Dia, I'll give you 2 shots
DM: first one is a miss
DM: but SECOND is a hit

Bethany: "Dia run back to my position, leave the construct in front"

Deladriel: ok...I am running along side...so adjust if necessary...but I am swerving into the nearest one and attacking to try to draw it's attention

DM: you were 20 feet away at the beginning of your turn... so you can move in to attack (realize because of its natural reach, that WILL provoke an AoO), then you get to attack

Deladriel: well I gotta get in there somehow don't I?

DM: true - its AoO hits
DM: and your attack hit
DM: okay... from Beth/Dia's perspective... Dia's arrow hit the one on the "left" and Dela bit a chunk out of the one on the "right"
DM: they're more or less side-by-side, and still 50 feet away from the other 2 members

Bethany: Bethany gives her construct a quick glance, which moves back thirty feet from her, and eighty feet in front of the bug that Dia just hit, and Bethany hits the bug with Dejua Vu

DM: made the save

Dianysia drops my crossbow then casts flaming sphere... aiming to hit the bug I just skewered.

DM: okay, so the nice glowing ball of fire shows up... and it fails its reflex save
DM: bug #3 turns and bites at Dela...
DM: and misses horridly
DM: #2 actually goes after the construct... which unfortunately, means it doesn't get the AoO... it bites...
DM: and barely chips any of the astral material off

Deladriel: Attacking my plaything again

Bethany: The construct would grin if it could, but since it lacks a face, the silvery 'flat face' seems to distort

DM: that's a hit
DM: you're tearing decent chunks out of its exoskeleton, but it's still going... even if it probably wouldn't survive even running away at this point

Bethany: The construct slams its blade like arms at the bug while Bethany lifts her palm where a crystal forms, then with a sudden push of her hand, the crystal goes flying towards the bug that attacked the construct.

DM: construct hits
DM: and it's now in even worse shape than Dela's... it's missing a few legs
DM: (too bad it has FAR more than it needs to move)

Dianysia: bring the flaming sphere back into contact

DM: it's starting to smolder, but it's still moving

Dianysia: Okay, cast flaming sphere again
Dianysia: I put it on the other side

DM: this time it makes the reflex save
DM: #2 attacks the construct again (it had to move to get up to the construct)... and misses horridly
DM: #3 goes after Dela again... this time a solid hit
DM: you feel the poison spreading throughout your system... Dex damage

Deladriel: Well...I may be slow...but my STR is still good... attack again

DM: hit
DM: it's tottering, but still kicking

Bethany: The Construct steps to the side, putting the bug between him and Bethany as he swings away at it. Bethany moves 15 feet closer to the construct, and thrusts her palm out, sending another swarm of crystals at the bug.

DM: your crystals poke a LOT of holes in the carapace... and the thing collapses with another of those ungodly shrieks

Dianysia: Okay, I wanna crispy said pest

DM: both spheres, then?

Dianysia: Yes
Dianysia: *crosses fingers*

DM: first one hits... and it falls dead
DM: and Dela, more Dex damage as the poison finishes running its course
