Session 15, June 30, 2007

Dianysia: Well, we need to find shelter.... although this bug may very well make a decent shelter...

Dianysia: "If you don't mind the legs, at least.

Jefferson Harco shutters at the very thought....

Bethany: "I'd rather us find a less carrion means of shelter," Bethany replies to Dianysia.

Dianysia: "What? You have problems with bugs?"

Jefferson Harco: Well you hate spiders...
Jefferson Harco: i hate everything else.....

Bethany: "I don't like worms."

Jefferson Harco: Worms I'm fine with...its the millions of legs....*shutter*

Dianysia smiles in amusement.

Deladriel: E-"I find resting place...come"
Deladriel heads into the woods

Dianysia: "She knows the way."
Dianysia follows Deladriel, still amused at the issues with the giant bug.

Bethany: "I don't trust that thing," Bethany says in Draconic, gving Dianysia a look that obviously makes it clear that it is to stay in between them.

Jefferson Harco follows

Deladriel leads you to a giant tree that has been hollowed out...apparently by lightning strike

DM: the tree is probably a good 20 feet in diameter, and there's an opening in the trunk about 5 feet off the ground. By peeking inside, you can see there's a hollow been worn into the inside large enough for all four of you to fit, if a little cozily, with the floor about 2 feet below the entry level

Dianysia: E - "Nice place." D - "What thing do you not trust?"

Bethany: D - “The other elf-orc," Bethany says, survaying the tree.

Jefferson Harco: Ok up everyone goes...into the tree....
Jefferson Harco stands to the side to help everyone into the tree first.

Deladriel shapeshifts into cat form and climbs into the opening...

Dianysia: D - She's trustworthy, and full of information, unlike others I know."
Dianysia: "Hmm... this may be a problem..." Dia works hard at lifting Jayde through the hole, with all the gear.

Bethany: "She ran from the fight earily, probably only came back because the bugs chased her anyways," Bethany says to Dianysia, "Besides, shes too nice. No one is that nice."

DM: lol, dia... you just about gave yourself a hernia trying (and failing) to lift your dog

Dianysia: D - Hold your tongue, instead of always letting it flap in the wind. Did you no notice that she distracted the other two bugs. Probably did it for me.
Dianysia: "Jeff, can you help me?"

Jayde sits there, an apparently amused look on her muzzle, trying to figure out what the bipeds are doing

Bethany: D-"Or she tried to run away, and they just followed her?" Bethany looked at the smaller woman and just shook her head, "I'd give so much to be that naive again... you may be right, but I've learned a long time ago to assume the worst, and be surprised when you are wrong. Makes like better when you're wrong, and if you are right, at the least you are prepared."

Deladriel looks over with a large amount of confusion...
Deladriel: E-"Why you try to move mountain? Remove heavy things from animal first"

Dianysia: D- "I'm far from naive, but unlike you, I'm not going to make sure to alienate the one person here whohas a chance to assist this group."

Bethany: Shrugs, not wanting to push the issue, and changes the subject by stating, "Hoist her with a rope.

Dianysia: "Good thought Del. If it fails, maybe I'll try your idea, Beth."
Dianysia removes gear and still fails to lift the dog

Jefferson Harco: what if we created a bridge?

Deladriel suddenly pops back out of the hole in cat from again and climbs up to the first large branch she comes to

Bethany: ""It will save you all time to throw a rope over the branch, tie it in two loops, place one near the front of the dog, and one near the back, then hoist away."

Dianysia: "Wait, Beth, are you able to do that weird bridge thing that you did when we first met?:

Bethany: "Not right now, and that is not really conducive to walking up anyways... is my idea that offensive?"

Dianysia: "We can try it, I guess."

Bethany: "The first step is to find a solid branch, and toss the rope over it," Bethany says, looking up at the tree, "One about 7 or 8 feet up."

DM: unfortunately, the closest branch to the opening is a good 20 feet off the ground... and Dela (in cat form) is resting on it, apparently trying to get to sleep
DM: these trees are HUGE, which means they don't have any low-hanging branches

Bethany: "Guess that one up there is the lowest, do we have rope that long? Need about 40 or 50 feet."

Dianysia: "I have two 50 ft ropes...But I can't hit Del with the rope."

Bethany: "Then call her down here and have her carry it up, then drop it over the branch back towards?"

Dianysia glances at Del, seeing if she reacts to this statement at all

Deladriel is trying to sleep

Dianysia sighs, and hoists the equipment in, piece by piece. "Del, would you be able to take this rope up there for us?"

Deladriel lifts her cat head and cocks it slightly...then begins to climb back down
Deladriel gets to the bottom and shifts to elf form
Deladriel: E-"You make happy time with this dog? That why you must have in tree with you?"

Bethany: Takes a weird thick circle thing, covered in a silvery shimmer out of her pack, and parka made of the same strange cloth as a lot of her clothing, and wraps the parka around the dogs torso, and then pulls a few strips of the silvery stuff from the circle off and places them on the parka, which seems to hold it in place on the dog.

Dianysia blushes slightly. "No. The dog is trained in guarding me. It can only guard me if it is near me. Regardless, what is it to you if I choose to have this dog in the tree with me?"

Deladriel shrugs

Dianysia: D - "What is that you're doing, Beth?"

Deladriel shifts back to cat form and takes the rope in her mouth...then climbs back up

Bethany: D-"Padding the dog so the rope wont hurt it when we hoist it up."

Dianysia: "Thank you."

DM: y'all watch as Dela starts back up... only to lose her grip and skid back down from a few feet off the ground

Deladriel growls at the tree
Deladriel tries again
Deladriel struggled up the tree...but finally made it after some growling...perhaps she was getting fatigued
Deladriel shifts to elf form and feeds the rope over the branch

DM: okay, now you've got the rope looped over the branch, and back down... 10 feet total slack

Deladriel then shifts back to cat and lays back down (Away from the place where the rope crosses over the branch)

Dianysia: E - "Thank you."

Deladriel growls

Dianysia: "Now what?"

Jefferson Harco: ill go into the tree and guide the dog in?

Bethany: Takes the lowered end of the rope and wraps it around the dog, first by its front legs, making sure to only place it where the parka is and wraps the loop around, creating a smaller loop which she feeds the entire rest of the rope through, then cinches it down, and wraps the rest around the hind portion of the dog, tying a simple over hand knot, and cinching it to the dog, then taking the remaining portion of rope, and ties it up a little way from the dog on the lowered portion of the rope, tieing a simple square knot, and testing her weight on it.

DM: and in the interest of NOT taking forever to get into shelter... we'll say the harness works and you get Jayde inside

Jefferson Harco: i'm in the shelter too

Dianysia: I get in shelter

Bethany: Bethany climbs in after the dog, removing the parka from the dog, and lying it down on the ground before sitting down on it, and leaning against the inside of the tree, with her eyes closed while she fishes out a weird stick, and holds it in her hand.

Dianysia: "Ummm, so how do we set up watches tonight? Should I take first or last?"

Bethany: "I need rest pretty bad, needed it for a few days now, so I will gladly take last," Bethany says, eyes still closed.

Jefferson Harco: i can take a watch too,ill go first

Dianysia: I have to take first, then. It is a pain in the ass if I'm interrupted. How about you take middle watch?"

DM: it's late afternoon right now

Dianysia: "Do you mind taking second watch, Jeff?"

Jefferson Harco: sure thing dia....

Dianysia: "Thanks. I'll wake you then."

Jefferson Harco passes out....

DM: dia, when's the change-over?

Dianysia: I guess 11.

DM: a'ight, assume change-over...

DM: chuck, when are you gonna wake Beth for 3rd watch?

Jefferson Harco: hmm... halfway between midnight and dawn

Deladriel wakes with a start and growls loud enough to try to get the attention of anyone awake
Deladriel climbs quickly down the tree and points herself at a point in the distance

Jefferson Harco: "What are you looking at?" attempt to look again...

Deladriel shifts to elf "Horse...there"

DM: okay, so it's quite dark out, altho there are stars to provide a hint of light... 10 ft. visibility for humans, means 20 ft. visibility to those with low-light vision

Deladriel shifts back to cat and stalks off to the side

Jefferson Harco: Horse? *whispering under his breath
Jefferson Harco attempts to wake beth

Bethany: Comes to slowly, looking up at Jeff, "My watch already?"

Jefferson Harco: sure is, but im gonna stay watch with you

Bethany: "You do know I am only going to watch on watch, not anything else..." Bethany says to Jeff with a little suspescion.

Jefferson Harco: Yeah, thats the point of the watch?

Bethany: "Ok, with you I can never tell," she says, moving towards the hole.

Jefferson Harco: "What do you mean tell?" as he moves over to the hole to watch beside?

Bethany: "Don't worry about it," Bethany replies, playing with that strange stick in her hand, "Anything fun going on?"

Jefferson Harco: "Yeah a noise in the distance, Del went to check it out...."

Deladriel returns to the group from the opposite direction of where she stalked off

Bethany: "Well thats good I guess," Bethany says.

Deladriel shifts to elf..."A Horse and Rider...travelling...not know where...not notice us"

Jefferson Harco: "Should we go find out?"

Deladriel: "No...possibly only traveller"

Bethany: "Probably going to a town or something, which I personally wouldn't need doing anyways, doubt they will have batteries there though."

Deladriel: "Rider heads away from town"

Jefferson Harco: travelling where?

Deladriel shifts back to cat and heads back up the tree

Bethany: "That doesn't help me trust her anymore," Bethany says to herself in orc, continuing with, "Information should be shared equally."

DM: okay... we fast forward some more

DM: aaaand... DAWN!

Dianysia: I wake naturally at 7 am

Deladriel wakes, does early morning meditation, then casts 3 spells on herself

Bethany: "So anyone having something good for breakfast?"

Deladriel: ( gathering food )

DM: good enough for breakfast, sure - you find yerself a rabbit... mmmmmmm, yummy

Jefferson Harco: i am also going to ravage the forest for edibles...

DM: you find yourself some tubers that taste pretty good
DM: dia, figure you're waking up about now

Deladriel: "Next time we make stew!" Del says to Jeff

Bethany: "Heh, guess not," Bethany says as she watches everyone, "I wish we had a Korthgac's ((Orcish Denny's! :-p)) around here."

Dianysia gets up and rummages through my bags for rations, grabbing Jayde some meat after watching poor puppy jump out of hole and excuse herself. **

Deladriel: "Cork-gags?"

Bethany: "Just a place to get a warmed cooked stack of pancakes in under 15 minutes," Bethany says, leaning against the side of the tree watching everyone eating, trying to ignore the poor ravaged remains of the rabbit.

Deladriel watches Bethany for a moment...then looks to Dia

Dianysia: "What are you going on about this time, Beth?"

Deladriel notices Dia putting a little water into a package and mixing it together

Bethany: Rolls her eyes at Dianysia's accusation, "I am sorry, I was reminiscing about home, next time I will take note it bothers you and do it in a language you don't understand."

Dianysia: "No offense intended Beth. Sorry, just woke up. I have no clue about pancakes."

Bethany: "You probably don't call them pancakes, but they are like flat bread, but less dense and sweeter."

Dianysia: "Why would you desire a stack of flatbread?"

Bethany: "Because they taste really good?"

Dianysia: "Flatbread might be good with some jam, I guess," Dia says, although she doesn't appear to understand why she'd want a stack of it nonetheless

Deladriel provides Dia with some tubers, edible mushrooms, and a couple of quail
Deladriel: ( Uncooked...mind you )

Dianysia skips the rations, shoving them back in her bag.

Bethany: "Interesting meal, there Dia," Bethany says, "Poor birds."

Dianysia: "Thanks." Dia goes and forms a small campfire, cooking the small quails into a decent meal.

Deladriel: "You not eat?" Del says to Beth

Dianysia enjoys breakfast, then studies my spellbook for an hour.

Bethany: Looks at Deladriel, and says, "Nah, I prefer fruit, which I didn't see much of."

Deladriel: "Have fruit...most high in trees...some fall to ground...not here though"

Bethany: "Its ok, no worries."

Deladriel: "Jeff leave some tubers behind...I grab them...good find"
Deladriel: "We should go...need to get to town"
Deladriel waits for everyone to get packed up

Dianysia gathers stuff together, placing them close to the whole (within easy reach) and climbs out, attaching everything back to Jayde.

Jefferson Harco: I'm all set to go...(with nothing in hands, barely covered with clothing...still smeared with dried mud

Bethany: Once Bethany is alone in the tree, she changes out of her traveling clothing, putting on a jean skirt, and a loose white t-shirt with some strange logo on it and some words written in orcish. She puts her jacket on over it, and then climbs out of the tree, and throws her pack on.

Dianysia: "Let's go."

Deladriel: "Rain comes...we make it to town before though...if go now"

Dianysia: "Nice outfit." D - "You know, that material... I've never seen it before barring on you."

Deladriel is in cat form when Beth comes out...stares at her odd clothing for a moment...then heads back toward the road

Bethany: D-"Its all every common," she says, sliding her hands into her pockets as they start to walk.

Dianysia: D - "No, it's not. It's different. Having pouches inside your clothing isn't common, and neither is anything you're wearing."

DM: okay... then we go... several hours go by, unremarkable
