Session 12, June 2, 2007

1st Party: Bob, Dia, Tristanu

Dianysia whispers, "Well, now what?"

Bob: "Now we gotta get in there. Since you won't let me lead with grenades, I'm not sure what to do... unless y'all have a better way to flush enemies out of a fortified position?"

Tristanu: um...should we head in farther Bob?
Tristanu gazes toward Dia

Dianysia: "What? My flaming sphere will do just as much damage as his green aid expounder."

Tristanu: "Gimme one of those green aids"

Bob: "And just what're you planning, son?"

Tristanu: To make alot of noise? Got a problem with that?

Dianysia: "To throw it, I think... you might want to start running now..."
Dianysia: "Besides, Trist... we don't wannt to ruin the temple, riemember?

Tristanu looks clearly frustrated "Oh blow the temple to little bits for all I care...maybe then we won't have to do all this searching around!"

Dianysia: "Yeah, and we won't get home either. Also, we should also prepare for the eventuality that we may have to sacrifice someone. Okay, here's the deal... If we can get close enough, I can try to limit my flaming sphere..."

Tristanu: Better start running now Bob
Tristanu: ok...let's head in...
Tristanu without waiting, starts to head further in

Dianysia follows, muttering about always having to be ready to save the pally..."

Bob shrugs, popping in a fresh magazine as he waits to see what happens

Dianysia: "Too bad I don't do much scrying....I could get so much more info. AH well."
Dianysia: "Hey, Bob, do you know anything about searching for traps?"
Dianysia turns on flashlight, accidentally aiming the stupid thing in her eyes.

Tristanu: I will slowly apply weight to the bridge to test it's strength.

Dianysia: "That might be trapped, you know, Trist... I would want you blowing up as well...

Tristanu: you would, would you?

Dianysia: "Umm... I meant wouldn't."

Tristanu: slowly apply weight (with my foot) to see if the bridge feels sturdy

DM: as you put your weight onto the board, you see that it appears sturdy enough, but there's something odd about the far end... you're not sure what, but SOMETHING caught your eye

Dianysia feels lonely without Jayde.

Tristanu: Dia...use that flashy light thingy over here

Dianysia: "Would you rather me cross the bridge? I"m lighter and you can catch me if it falls from underneath me"

DM: Bob is watching the tunnel behind you, btw

Tristanu: Just shine your light on the far end of the bridge and tell me if you notice anything out of the ordinary

Dianysia shines the light on the bridge.

DM: with the aid of the light, you're able to see that the far end of the board isn't quite resting on the ground, it's maybe a quarter of an inch off, resting on something (altho you can't see what, from your vantage point)

Dianysia: "This is definitely not something for you to try to cross. Would you like me to? You can catch me as I've said."
Dianysia: "Don't do anything stupid, Trist. Bob, can you come look at this?"

Bob starts into the room before his eyes go wide, and he shouts out, "GET DOWN!" while at the same time dropping as well, as SOMETHING comes sailing around the corner of the door, bouncing off the wall above the pit

Dianysia does so!

Tristanu throws the boards off the pit and jumps in

DM: okay... so bob yells out, he drops, and Dia drops... trist reaches down to yank the boards out of the way, as SOMETHING comes sailing around and hits the wall above the pit, bouncing down to bounce off of trist's helm, and fall down into the pit... meanwhile, the small device that WAS attached to the far end of the pit has its pin yanked out by the falling boards, which means it's going to explode as well...

DM: Tristanu manages to stop himself from jumping down...
DM: and the claymore radius catches EVERYBODY in it... sending steel balls whizzing through the air at high velocity.

Tristanu: get up off the ledge... and use my last 3 heal points from lay on hands on myself

Bob climbs to his feet, yanking something off his vest, grinning. "One more won't hurt after THAT blast!" Bob then tosses the grenade past Trist, aiming for enough past the pit to keep Trist out of the blast, EASILY making it...

DM: the orc peeks his head around the corner to toss another grenade over the pit... as he forgets to pull the pin out... but he's not sticking around to see WHERE that grenade landed... he's moving quite quickly

Dianysia is muttering under her breath in a variety of colorful languages, elven being one of the less frequently used.
Dianysia: I take off running and jump the pit!
Dianysia: On reaching the other side, shoot at the orc as soon as I see him.

DM: he's got a crossbow bolt sticking out of his shoulder, and he does NOT look happy... OR healthy, for that matter

Tristanu: I step back and get a semi running start to jump over the pit

DM: you cleared the pit, but you landed prone

Bob decides that the space just inside the door is a little too crowded to attempt to get through right now, so he'll just cover the hallway

DM: the orc soldier draws his sidearm from his holster, and takes a pot shot at Dia... which hits

Dianysia falls. (Dying)

Tristanu: I'll get up...again...drawing bow while doing it...and I attack

DM: that's a SOLID hit...
DM: so picture this, if you will... orc, wild-eyed, breathing hard, bleeding from multiple places, a crossbow bolt sticking out of his shoulder... grabs his gun, fires wildly, and drops the mage... his eyes then get wider as this archaic warrior stands up in camo-painted full-plate armor, draws a giant bow, and aims it at the orc... the tension is thick enough to cut as he releases at pretty much point blank range... and the arrow goes straight THROUGH the orc's throat, he burbles out a few incoherent sounds as his hands go to his throat, and he collapses gracefully... quite deceased

Tristanu: attempt to stabilize Dia
Tristanu: Dia's Down!!! (( Good enough? ))
Tristanu performs mouth to mouth

Bob gives the hallway one last glance before running to jump the pit, trying to get close enough to Dia...
Bob falls

Tristanu hears the scream of Bob falling into the pit

Bob swears up a storm... good thing you can't understand him

Tristanu rolls his eyes "That's the mother of all pits!"
Tristanu: Continue working to stabilize Dia

Dianysia: ((I'm ALIVE!))

DM: Bob tries to climb out...
DM: and Bob fails

Tristanu: I'm gonna reach over the edge and offer him a hand

DM: yeah, with no serious time constraints... Bob is out of the pit

Bob comes over to Dia, placing a couple fingers against her throat to check for a pulse, before nodding at the bandage work Tristanu has done. "Good job with the first aid, son. But I think we'll want her up and around soon, so just hang back a sec... this is probably somethin else that's new to you."

Tristanu waits until the group is ready to go again and starts moving forward..bow at the ready

Bob closes his eyes and concentrates... and a few seconds later, a strange writhing shape can be seen edging down past the cuff of his sleeve... upon closer inspection, it becomes obvious that the shape is actually UNDERNEATH Bob's skin, is somehow a marking that's moving down his arm... the shape moves down his fingers, and somehow transfers across to Dia's neck, eventually shaping itself into a strange pattern that completely encircles her neck, like a collar.
Bob grins, as he opens his eyes, sending a mental command to the tattoo on Dia's neck... which fades away quickly, infusing her body with focused energy, healing some of the damage
DM: which means Dia, you come to with Bob touching your neck with a couple fingers

Dianysia: "Son of a -"

Bob notes Dia's waking up, and steps back, grinning. "There, you're back with us. Almost died."

Dianysia: I will quickly regain my feet and move to the back corner, until she has a chance to figure out what in the hell just happened.

Bob: "Hey, calm down. You got shot, you dropped, your boy patched the hole and I healed you up. Simple."

Dianysia: "Nice definition of okay... Dang... all my potions are outside, too...If that was being shot, I don't EVER want that to happen again..."
Dianysia: "I don't remember him 'plugging the hole' or you healing me."

Bob grins. "Now you see why we use guns? And of course not, you were down. Out. Minute more, you'd have been a goner."

Dianysia: "Thanks, then... I think... I'll let you know when the pain subsides..."

Bob: "Hey, how bad are you hurting? Breeze knock you over, or you ready to take on a brigade?"

Dianysia: "Hurting quite a bit, but I'm able to go on...Can't take another shot, though, I don't think...Mages aren't made for melee... or trarget practice..."

Bob: "Then here, gimme your hand."
Bob holds out his left hand expectantly

Dianysia looks at him hesitantly, but does as asked.

Bob closes his eyes and concentrates, so that a second later another of the strange tattoos appears writhing down from under his sleeve, crossing his fingers to crawl under Dia's skin up to her hand, forming a pattern around her wrist and hand - Bob holding on tight through this whole thing to make sure she doesn't pull away.
Bob: As soon as the tattoo is transferred, Bob lets go.

Dianysia obviously tenses, bracing in case she was wrong, but doesn't attempt to pull away yet.
Dianysia: "What's this?"

Bob: "It's healing, Tal whips 'em up. Just touch the thing and concentrate on it... you can make it move to another part of your body, you can make it move onto someone else, or you can make it heal you."

Dianysia: "Concentrating on it makes it heal?" Dia does so, then, duh!

Bob also reaches up under his jacket, to touch a spot on his neck, activating his own healing tattoo

Dianysia still looks rather pale and shaky, but determined.

Bob: "Alright, here's what I suggest. I seriously doubt we've got any more opposition... so why don't the two of you find what you've gotta find in here, and I'll check outside to see if we've got anybody else.

Dianysia nods.

Dianysia waits a moment, then casts detect magic,, towards the door with the explosive blob

Tristanu: I'm moving on to explore the next room

DM: next room is not lit, and a pit right outside the door
DM: bridged by a bit more wood

Tristanu: I walk across the bridge.

DM: you walk across a board, that makes a little noise as it wobbles, but you cross safely

Tristanu spits on the bridge

DM: there's a lot of rubble strewn about the room, but nothing of real note...

Dianysia slowly turns to see if any comes from the larger room they are currently in, then moves to the door to check the next room

DM: Bob is following tristanu at this point

DM: Dia, you detect magic coming from the south end of the room

Dianysia focuses on hthat one spot. "Hey, Trist, something magical here...

Tristanu: Focus on it

Dianysia keeps focusing

DM: the pillar that the artifact was resting on, has a faint aura... the big red button above it has a moderate aura

Dianysia: "Hey, Trist... do mae a favor? Can you try to make sense of this gibberish?

Tristanu reads the big red button

Dianysia: "Well, anything, Trist?

Tristanu: Was this button pressed when we shifted realities?

Dianysia moves to scan the other room

Tristanu: Dia!

Dianysia: "I don't know, honestly."

DM: (Bob has continued moving on, btw)

Tristanu: you ask me a question then take off?
Tristanu: who was near this button when we shifted?

Dianysia: I'm still in here with you, I'm just not wanting to lose my spell.
Dianysia: I don't know. I wasn't in her.... I was on the other side of the pit, while this room was covered in black fire."
Dianysia: I haven't found anything yet... let's keep looking, okay?

Tristanu: I feel that this room holds the answer to our travelling

Dianysia searches each room individually for anything.

Tristanu: hmm
Tristanu stares at the button

Dianysia: "Oh, for heaven's sake.... Here, Trist." She goes and pushes the button

DM: The button pushes in with a definite click... there's a moment of silence, as it doesn't retract back outwards... the button shimmers for a second on the wall, then melts away into the stonework, replaced by a series of glowing letters in the same script that was on the button (trist, I'll give you a translation shortly), which hangs in the air for a brief second before fading away as well.

Dianysia: "Trist, can you... read... that?"

Tristanu: "Yeah I can...but it makes no sense to me"

Dianysia: "What's it say?"

Tristanu: "It says 'Feed it...then roll it. I think it means the artifact"

Dianysia: 'Let's find Bob and get out of here... The sooner the better..."

Tristanu: "But...what about getting home?"

Dianysia: I don't think HERE is the key
Dianysia: "PLease, I've just got a really bad feeling... let's get going..."
Dianysia goes to find Bob.
Dianysia: "BOB?!"

DM: no response

Tristanu: no pit...following Bob

Dianysia follows Bob... carefully...

DM: okay... past the other room is a LONG corridor, which terminates outside the rock and you can see outside somewhere... no evidence of Bob in that tunnel

Dianysia: I will proceed to the outside-iness

DM: you exit near where the strange metal wagon was... except that it's gone now... and there's still no Bob in sight

Dianysia: I search for Jayde.
Dianysia: Carefully

DM: you follow the outside of the rock around to where you left her, to find her waiting anxiously for you, obviously VERY happy to be reunited once you get there

Tristanu: Where did Bob go?

Dianysia: "Hey, girl. I know, I miased you too! G'girl."
Dianysia withdraws the stronger cure poition from the packs and downs it.
Dianysia: "Where's BoB? Where's the wagon? Not again..."
Dianysia pushes the button on her radio. "Bob? Where are you?"

Bob replies via radio: "I'm a little ways away from the temple, checking on that APC. Looks like they left a couple greenies to take us on, while the think tanks fled."

Dianysia: "Think tanks?"

Bob: "Scientists. The people checking out the place like you."

Dianysia calls back over radio. "Let's tre-group and head back to camp. I think we've done enough damage for one day."

Bob: "Sounds good to me. I'll meet you on the ridge by your original camp site."

Dianysia: "Okaay... I think..."
Dianysia turns to Trist. "Do you remember the way?"

Tristanu: sure...let's go

2nd Party: Reese, Jeff, Beth

Jefferson Harco: ok beth, we gotta get back to the base, i dont think we can handle all this...this...whatever it is.

Bethany: "Quiet," BethANY says, looking over at Jeff, "And if you don't mind me say, I disagree. We'd be followed if we get caught on the way out."

Jefferson Harco: Ok well lets quickly think this through, what are our options?

Bethany: "I'd say back to temple... not much can be done with you and me hard understand eachother."

Jefferson Harco: yeah good idea, the temple is where everyone else is, ok good lets go

Bethany: "Lead the way," Bethany sais, pulling her pistol out of its holster.
Bethany: "But first..." say adds, before turning around and moving slowly towards the half exploded corpse.
Bethany: Continues to approach the body, being ever mindful of the search lights, until she gets to him and searchs the corpse.

Jefferson Harco is watching out for Bethany

Bethany: Gives up on finding anything useful on the corpse, taking the little bit of money that wasn't turned into shrapnel as the ammounition exploded, and takes the pistol before heading back towards Jeff slowly, "Lead the way."

Jefferson Harco leads the way back to the temple, and starts running....
Jefferson Harco: Try and keep up!

DM: okay... Jeff, you get up to run, you take a few steps, before realizing that you're running at night, with no lights, you're HUMAN, and you're in the woods... just at the moment that you realize you really can't see where you're going as you're running, your foot catches on a protruding root, and you fall forward flat onto your face... making a very decent racket and shaking a LOT of the brush around, which also attracts the attention of not one but TWO spotlights, and you are now in a circle of light
DM: realize that while you did move away from the compound... you're still NEAR the compound, in terms of line of sight

Jefferson Harco: Beth, can you take out those lights?

Bethany: "If you mean to run, then sorry buddy, I don't feel like dieing," as she keeps her head low, rolling her eyes as a light centers on Jeff, and she drops to the ground.

DM: the sniper has been watching the lights, and of course once Jeff is pegged, takes a shot... and slams a round home into Jeff's hind end

Bethany: As Bethany watches the round hit Jeff wincing at him, then says, "Get down you idiot, and find cover."

Jefferson Harco: stand up, and get my ass behind a tree
Jefferson Harco: as far away as possible

DM: okay, jeff, you're behind a tree... but the lights are still focused on you (or rather, on the tree you're behind)

Bethany: Tries to crawl close to the tree so that she can see Jeff, but not get caught in the light.

DM: beth, you've avoided the light... you're in cover outside of its circle, relatively close (but it's approx a 20-ft. radius circle at this distance)

Bethany: "Jeff, stand still, and just wait, when I say go, get down to the ground and crawl away," Bethany says.

(3140) Jefferson Harco: ok

Bethany: Focuses her mind on a single point in front of Jeff, which takes the shape of a small blob of some kind of silvery stuff, and quickly grows, taking on Jeff's shape as it does, until it looks almost like him, minus the obvious tell tell of Astral matter.
Bethany: Bethany only looks at the construct, which suddenly bolts off away from from the tree, and from Bethany herself. "Once the lights are off you, come to me."

DM: the sniper gets a shot off as soon as the construct breaks cover... and misses

Jefferson Harco: i drop and commando towards beth

DM: okay, the orcs' lights are following the construct, and the sniper's firing again... this time it's a hit... and Jeff, no lights are following you at this point, so it appears the 2 of you are clear for the moment

Bethany: "Follow me, keep your damn head low, and move like you want to keep it, not like you want to run from it," Bethany said, still on the ground and crawling away from the spot.

DM: okay, then the compound folks are SNEAKING away... lol... it'll take you a while to get clear, and then even longer to get back to the temple... it's a 1/2 hr by APC, so you've got a bit of a trek ahead of you

All Reunited Again

DM: yeah... I'm gonna pull a DM privilege and say that y'all hook up on the radio channel, and meet up at the original camp site

Dianysia looks rather cheerful and none-the-worse for wear when arriving at camp.
Dianysia: "Did you find anything helpful, Bob?"

Jefferson Harco: yeah so i said to mavis...
Jefferson Harco: oh hey guys i was just talking to beth about our commando times together

Dianysia: "Yeah, speaking of that...We still need to get you a fig leaf..."
Dianysia: "So, what did you guys find out? And where's Reese?"

Jefferson Harco: so how did your mission go, i got a little banged up on ours

Dianysia: Almost died.

Bob: but did you find out anything about Kam?

Jefferson Harco: find a lot of things, like this pellet in my ass
Jefferson Harco: whos kam?

Tristanu: Bob fell into a pit
Tristanu snickers

Jefferson Harco: Reese just told me to throw some firerocks into the camp
Jefferson Harco: and then run.

Dianysia: "Green-aid things?"

Bob: The guy you were going to find info on? HALF of what you were supposed to be doing?

Jefferson Harco: i dunno what they were called, i just pulled threw and ran

Dianysia: "Beth, anything?"

Jefferson Harco: well i couldnt look for anything due to the orc shooting metal arrow tips at me.

Dianysia: "Yeah... those things really sting... Did you get hit with any of them Trist?
Dianysia: We also located some... er... explosives... those things sting too... got blown to the abyss and back twice, then almost died when I got shot..."
Dianysia: "Bob, did you notice those scuff marks in one of the rooms?"

Bethany: Looks at the group, and there wounds, and says to Bob, "We need to stop, at least remove some bullets," as she drops her bag and starts pulling a few other bags off of it.

Bob: Yeah, the brains obviously dragged something out with 'em. Some kind of critter.

Dianysia: "Could it have been this Kam?”

Bethany: "And we got spotted before we got near the fence. We got when Humvee, and four or five orcs."

Bob: And sounds good to me, sweetheart. If you got medic training, I'd welcome a go.
Bob: Not Kam, no. He'd have left a different drag pattern. This thing had lots of legs, Kam's got only two... four if you count hands. I'm guessing this thing had at least six, maybe eight or more.

Dianysia: "i'm fine, thanks. Don't need anything."

Bethany: "Well, not a medic... I was trained by my father to be a Nurse, been a while since I practiced though," Bethany says, "I guess everyone take a seat and let me figure out who is the most wounded..."

Dianysia: "Hrm...There was a spider, but that didn't teleport with us, so far as I can tell."

Bob: Naw, not a spider. This thing was man-sized, at least.

Dianysia: "So was the spider."

Bob mutters something about crazy girls thinking about bugs
Bob: A man-sized spider? Now I know you're crazy. Ain't never been any such thing.

Dianysia: "I'm talking about a giant spider, thank you. And I have no issues with bugs in general. Just spiders."
Dianysia: "I'm good. Trist, you need any healing?"

Tristanu: quite alot yes

Bethany: Jeff you need medical attention?_

Jefferson Harco: sure do.

Dianysia: "Bob, how does that metal tosser work? It stings like nobody's busines.."

Bethany: Pulls out a thickly wrapped peice of leather, and lays a mat onto the ground before telling Jeff to lie down it, once he does, she takes a pair of scissors, and cuts small holes in his clothing around obvious bullet holes, then hands the leather peice to Jeff, "Bite down hard."

Jefferson Harco: Why?

Bob shrugs. "It's a little too complicated for me to explain fully, but... each bullet is built in two pieces, a casing and the actual bullet... the casing holds a powder that burns really fast, pushing the bullet forward out of the gun at incredible speed... and that little bullet is what does the damage **

Bethany: "Because this isn't going to feel very good," she says, grabbing a pair of plier like things in one hand, and a scapel in the other, trying to keep them out of Jeff's eyeline.

Dianysia watches Beth carefully, prepared to protect Jeff if need be... **

Bob: "Hey Beth, sweetie, you can't be out of morphine yet, just give 'im a shot, better than the 'bite down' approach."

Jefferson Harco: ok...*bites down preteniously*

Dianysia: "What is More-feen?"

Bethany: "Only have chloroform, and it really shouldn't be used in this case," Bethany replies, before gently poking the pliers into one of the bullet wounds, gentle probing and feeling around.
Bethany: "It is a dangerous drug, made out of the same stuff as ludamen which is dangerous."

Dianysia: "Laud-men?"
Dianysia: "Bob... what is she doing?" Dia whispers.

Bethany: Continues to work, pulling out each peice of metal, before finally pulling out a curved needle and quickly stitching up the slits she made during the work, and bandaging the bullet holes.

Dianysia relaxes slightly as Jeff doesn't seem any worse-for-wear. **
Dianysia: "I, uh, guess I owe both of you a thank you," DIa says, turning to Trist and Bob. "I mean it... thanks."
