Jefferson Harco: "Sorry i couldnt find kam but i was too busy being attacked...I was told to run in and throw these booming rocks and then get out...
Tristanu directs his statement to Jeff: "We found no signs of Kam at the temple"
Jefferson Harco: "Kam could have been at the compound, but it was all fenced in...and I didn't have the time to ask for a cup of sugar and peruse"
Dianysia: "Asking a bunch of orcs for sugar? You'd certainly seem suspicious then."
Jefferson Harco: "Well going there and throwing firerocks at them didnt help either.."
DM: Reese: "Hey, the idea originally was for you to make a distraction there, so that we could sneak around from the other side. It just didn't work out that way."
Jefferson Harco: "well now we need a new plan"
Jefferson Harco: "What did you guys find in the temple?"
Jefferson Harco: "Anything to get us back home?"
Bob: Well, I guess that's all up to y'all. You held up your end of the bargain, on our original deal. Reese was leading the group, she decided to break off, so at this point the burden's still on us to find our own.
Dianysia: "We found orcs."
Jefferson Harco: "Yea...me too...they seem to be all over this place...
Jefferson Harco: "Is there anything else to do now?"
Jefferson Harco: "Other than finding Kam"
Dianysia: "Well, we didn't find the artifact, and there's no new info. I'm wasted, though. We need to get somewhere safe."
Jefferson Harco: "We need to regroup...right now it seems we're getting nowhere..."
Bob: Y'all are welcome to stay with us for as long as we're around. With no idea what's happened to Kam though, we can't afford to stay here for more than a day or two, at the most.
Bethany: "Saftey would not be a bad thing, I am sure our wounded would like some recovery as well," Bethany said, still cleaning up her gear from her brief surgery.
Jefferson Harco: "well what about going to the encampment"
Bethany: "I would also like to continue on my journey, I hate staying on this continent longer then need be, that and my boat will only wait so long."
Dianysia looks at Jeff, then at the wound-site."You up to moving around after all of that?"
Dianysia: "Well, Beth, I'm certainly not about to leave this continent."
Jefferson Harco: "Well we have to keep moving, and the quicker we get what we need, the quicker we get back to home.....although i suppose i could take a break..."
Bethany: "It makes more sense to leave this continent, at least then we enter civilized lands, and we can visit one of the Churchs..."
Bob: Well, sounds like y'all are comin with us, then? At least for now...
Dianysia: "Sounds good to me. It is safe enough, for now, and the only plan I've heard presented thus far."
Jefferson Harco: "Well lets get going...
Bob stands to his feet, motioning to Reese to join him. "Okay, here's the deal. The two of us are heading back, and you stand no chance of getting in without us. So I need a yes or a no, do y'all want to stay with us for a bit longer? This time it's completely voluntary." Bob grins and tips an imaginary hat to Dia. "No offense, sugar. We'll probably be moving our camp again come nightfall, so that's the deadline for movin on. Y'all ain't comin with us that time."
Bethany: "I think we best head for the coast," Bethany says pulling her pack on, "We will have access to libraries and the church in a city, which is what I think you guys really need."
Jefferson Harco: "Dia? Tris? what do you guys think?"
Dianysia: "Well, let's go, take a breather, and decide from there?" Dia looks at Bob. "That's a yes for me.
Tristanu: "I think we should try to finish what we have started
Dianysia: "And why would I want to follow you when you move on?"
Tristanu: "We should try to find Kam...I suspect his disappearance may be related to our appearance"
Jefferson Harco: "Ok so we're staying with you bob."
Bob grins. "Glad to have ya, honey. And maybe if you're really good, you can have your little stick back when you go."
Dianysia: "I beg to differ, no offense, Bob. That may very well be suicide. They know we've tried to break in, the ccamp has to be fortified by now, preparing for another onslaught."
Bob turns to Trist, slapping him on the shoulder. "I appreciate the sentiment, son. But unfortunately, Kam's been gone long enough, I doubt we'll see him again. We've found that the vast majority of the time, once a man's been gone 48 hours, it's best to write 'im off. We lose too many if we try to rescue 'em after that. Trail's just too cold."
Dianysia: "The...;name...is,,,Dia... "
Bethany: "People disappear all the time on this chunk of land, one reason most people spend as short of a time here as possible," Bethany adds, "Besides, I have made it a habit for a fairly long time to avoid these fights and last night I remembered why, and I also think the Church will have some of your answers."
Bob: "Sure thing, toots."
Bob sees Dia starting to react and takes a quick step away from her, drawing his sidearm as he does, his voice dropping as he points it at her steadily, just the barest hint of a smile at the corners of his eyes. "Remember what I said about only getting one? Now; ease down, or you and me is gonna have a disagreement."
Dianysia: "That's why I'm not using my quarterstaff... completely resets the rules, I'd say."
Bob: "You got spirit, girl. But this ain't a joke. Out here, you prove yourself, or you don't. You got the makings of a good fighter, but no discipline. So ease down, right now, or we're going to have to have to settle it."
Dianysia: "I don't prove myself with ahalf a piece of heated metal shaped into some bizarre noise-making contraptions and leave large holes for someone else to clean up. I don't need to fight you, you've already proven yourself, although I won't say as to what."
Jefferson Harco steps infront, "We all need to settle down now and take a deep breath"
Bethany: "Enough with the bickering," Bethany says, "And why you are following him Dianysia, I will never know. Now since it seems I am on my own on wanted to get the hell out of Dodge, then I will head off for my boat, and hopefully it will still be there, and if so I will delay in case you all change your mind, or grow out of your insanity," then turning to Bob, "Let me see your map so you can point them in the right direction."
Dianysia changes her focus and tone. "Beth, please come with us? Just for one day? Please?"
Bob: You fight with your weapons, I fight with mine. And frankly, your opinion of me don't mean squat, 'cuz I got my own folks I'm leading.
Bob gestures to Beth, his aim never wavering nor taking his eyes off Dia. "Let me settle this, then we'll talk maps."
Bethany: "Dianysia, believe it or not, before you almost squished me, I had other objectives. It costs a small fortune to smuggle yourself from one continent to another, and I can not afford it a second time, so missing my boat is not really an option."
Jefferson Harco: well im trying to intervene so im attempting to step in front now
Jefferson Harco: between the gunslinger and the subborn mage
Dianysia: "Put that damned thing down. I'm not going to get blown to the abyss a third time today if I can help it. And step down, Jeff... I fight my own battles."
Jefferson Harco: "I agree you fight your own battles, but this is not a battle, this is you two being to subborn for you own goods..."
Jefferson Harco: "so if your going to fight, fight already, if not, you step down"
Jefferson Harco backs away to see dias choice
Dianysia: "Did you not listen to a thing I just said. I told him to put it down, I wasn't going to get myself blown to the abyss again, which is what would happen if I continued... thereby, I give."
Jefferson Harco: "ok then, bob lower your metal flinger, this is over right now. Show beth your map."
Bob carefully lowers his pistol, a hint more of a smile playing at the corner of his mouth. "Just so we're clear. You had your one free shot. You come at me again, I will respond and I'll use every weapon at my disposal. You're free to go your own way at this point, so you don't have to put up with me any longer than you want to. So make your call, cupcake. I am what I am."
Dianysia: "And for now, you're amused, but your're also a dick, just so we're clear. I'm still following, as I need somewhere safe to stay for a moment.
Jefferson Harco: so we're agreed, to not like each other but to keep going for our own sakes.
Jefferson Harco: bob, lead the way
Bethany: "Dianysia, let me say this again, there is no where safe on this entire continent
Bethany: "It is either get off of it, or be in danger, and now that we just did some noticable damage to that base, those marines are out for blood."
Bob shrugs, holstering his pistold. "As you like. Besides, this way you'll get your share of the spoils. I still owe you that pistol, anyway. You earned it. I think I can even spare a few clips of ammo for you. No good without spare ammo, after all."
Bethany: "And no offense to you Bob, but there are two types of people in this world. Those that mind their own, and stay low. They survive, then others who fight for 'something' more but end up dieing in the end."
Bethany: "I've been around long enough to realize change aint something we will see."
Dianysia: "I don't NOT like him... I just prefer to be treated with respect. And there is nowhere safe on this planet for me. Let me explain." Dia transforms into Jeff, then into Reese, then back into herself. "Tell me where on this damned god-forsaken planet I should go?"
Bob turns to Beth, grinning apologetically. "Yeah, well. As it stands, I gotta say sorry on the map anyway. Don't have one. Never needed one. The land tells me all I need to know about what's where.
Jefferson Harco looks at dia with surprised look
Bethany: Looks at Dianysia with more then a bit of surprise, but then smiles, "The church, they have handled sensitive cases many times, I doubt yours will be new."
Tristanu sighs..."It's about to get...interesting...in here now"
Jefferson Harco: what was that dia? how did....it was me....but im here...what?
Dianysia: "I have to make it that far, Beth. I am asking for one day, just one day. Please. I nthink you may be able to help me just a little bit... please, one day."
Bethany: "Sweetie, I am already a day behind, my boat wont wait very long. You have to understand that. If I don't make my boat, getting home becomes a lot more hairy."
Dianysia balls her fists up, but otherwise remains calm, casting a sideways glance at Bob. "I understand that. I'll do whatever I can to help you along your way, if you'll just give me one day.
Bethany: "Let me ask one question, what is so important about this one day?"
Tristanu speaks up..."What is so important about you going home?
Dianysia: "It's one day of relative safety for a handful of strangers who are doomed if they go it alone."
Dianysia: "I thought she was running away from home..."
Bethany: "Nah, I have traveled these paths often enough, and with the hornet nest that was stirred, they will be looking for camps, not us. In fact, as I am sure Bob will agree, going back to his camp would be a very risky proposition."
Tristanu awaits an answer from Bethany
Bob: Not for just today. The orcs can only get so far in a day. That's why we're moving out tomorrow night, and why none of you are coming with us at that point... assuming you decide to come with us now, even."
Dianysia: "Besides, we've left some of our gear there. We have to get everything, including my quarterstaff.
Bethany: "You are better off with out some of your more... archaic... possessions anywho," Bethany replied, "I have clothes you can wear, although the other two of you I doubt will desire to wear a skirt."
Tristanu gets tired of being ignored and stands up before Bethany
Tristanu: "I have had all I can take of your lack of cooperation with these efforts....if going home is what you wish to do, then please get out of my sight now...Be glad that YOU are capable of such a feat...but if it is hindering our attempts to return home that you wish to do...be warned that I am no longer ready to tolerate it"
Bethany: Looks over at Tristanu, stepping back a little almost as if it were a trained response, then looks at Tristanu, "Look mister, I am tired of being quiet and polite. Its how I was raised, but I am not a weak little meek girl anymore. You know jack squat about this world, I know quite a bit, and even if I knew half of what I know about this world, it would still be a hell of a lot more then you. I said I would help, and I will be damned if I don't help. Here is why I think it is in your best interest to follow me. There are nothing but graves, bones, orcs, and guns on this god forsaken chunk of rock. If you want to go home, you need to get help that a bunch of soldiers can not give you. That temple you arrived in, it is the shape of the the churches symbol. That alone tells me 'talk to the church' then, you have your oddness, her shapechanging, and the archaic equipment, which clearly shows that something does not belong, and I doubt you are like others who seem ageless, because they at least change with the time. So here are your choices, pussy foot around here looking for some hint, or follow me and gain access to the Church, the Churches Library, and more information then this hell can give you."
Tristanu: "If it is the churches I decide to resort to next, then I shall do so of my own accord. I tire of you trying to tell us that your way is always best and that only death and destruction lie in the opposite direction. At least WE are capable of completing a mission when told to do so...Kam's life likely ended as a result of your apparent desire to destroy first, search later. A commoner could likely have found a better way. But, of course, your way MUST have been right..because it was your way. So I would just appreciate it if your way led in a direction other than mine!" *Tristanu leaves the area of illumination in complete disgust*
Jefferson Harco is about to nap because he still has a fresh wound
Bethany: "You know so very little about me," Bethany said, seeming to be more then a little sad at the accusations tossed at her, and then sits down, and whispers something to herself.
Dianysia: "And you know so little about us. I don't ask anything but respect from anyone, yet I've shown you who - what I am - and asked you one little boon. Please. Now, Bob, I'm following you. Lead on."
Jefferson Harco: "Yes let us move..."
Dianysia: "Bob... you have no way of checking to see if anyone oversaw that.... do you? If anyone did, I'm as good as gone, regardless..."
Bob: "Right then. Up to any and all of y'all... follow or not. But sweet cheeks is right, it's time to move out." Bob nods, mostly to himself, before shouldering his equipment once more, and starting off at a slow enough pace to make sure anyone who wants to can easily follow.
Jefferson Harco catches up to the slow walking Bob, still holding the tender area where he took a bullet in the bubblegoose
Dianysia follows, Jayde at her side, fumbling for a cure light (I think what the lighter healing potion is) and passing it off to Jeff.
Bethany: Bethany stands up, keeping her gaze down, and says, "I have not led any of you, or even earned this ire directed at me, so how it is given I do not know, but even stupid me who can not do anything right, knows that it is a good idea to move, so I will follow you for now," before hanging back, and waiting for the others to begin before following.
Jefferson Harco graciouly accepts the potion and downs it quite quickly
DM: right then... fast forwarding to the arrival at the encampment... you notice a distinct lack of a LOT of the equipment that was laying out when you get there... obviously, everyone there has already begun making plans to shift camp
Jefferson Harco rushes into the encampment to help move stuff
Dianysia: "Okay... you, you, and you, follow me if you will."
Dianysia points at Jeff, Trist, and Beth she speaks."
Dianysia moves to her "quarters", without waiting to see if any follow me.
Jefferson Harco stops helping out and follows dia
Bethany: Follows Dianysia, hoping she is the only one who does, but catches sight of Jeff doing the same and sighes lightly.
Jefferson Harco is completly oblivious to the fact beth didn't want others to follow!!
Dianysia leaves her door open, hoping Tristanu would come as well.
Dianysia: "Okay, well, I guess we're it." Dia closes the door, then grabs something wrapped in a blanket from Jayde's pack.
Jefferson Harco: what is it?
Dianysia: It's a blanket, until I unwrap it, lol
Jefferson Harco: "I just asked incase you could spare me the surprise...but your no fun..."
Jefferson Harco waits until the gift is unwrapped...
James: I came in with the rest of the group...and headed straight to the room I was given before
Jefferson Harco: "What is it, what is it?!
Dianysia places the blanket-mass on the floor, unwrapping a twelve-sided dice-like object, probably a foot in diameter, with each side a different mineral.
Dianysia: "Beth, does this mean anything to you?"
Bethany: "Other then it is the symbol of the Church, although a bit more ornate then normal?" Bethany says softly.
Dianysia recommends you not touch it until we figure out more about it.
Jefferson Harco: I remember this from before Dia, when did you get it?
Dianysia: "Well, that would be good too... do you know what the symbol represents?"
Jefferson Harco: you must have grabbed it before we came to this land.
Jefferson Harco: because i looked for it before we left last time....and i asked if you'd seen what was on the pedestal
Bethany: "Not really, and it is not the normal symbol, more to say a running motif of the Church."
Dianysia: "What pedestal?"
Tristanu finally comes out of his room without his camo armor donned...looks as if he had just woken up
Jefferson Harco: The pedistal in the room when whe got ambushed, before bethany came in
Jefferson Harco: when Yu *god rest his soul* was taken from us?
Bethany: Looks up at Jeff, the Dianysia, then says, "What does he mean you were taken away?"
Jefferson Harco: with the golems, tell me you remember dia?
Jefferson Harco looking towards Beth, "His life flame was extinguished"
Dianysia: "I wasn't in the room with you two in that room. I was stuck helping a pally from a pit. I know nothing of this being on any pedestal... I found this near Yu."
Jefferson Harco: IT WAS ON THE PEDESTAL!!!
Jefferson Harco: Yu must have moved it, thats why we are here.
Tristanu: wait...it was once upon the pedestal and then suddenly upon the floor AFTER the world shift?
Bethany: "So Dia is a he... and he was killed... and is back...?"
Dianysia: "A drow mage killed one of our... friends... we were fighting that evil man who killed him when you showed up, hence me attacking you."
Dianysia: "I am most certainly not a he!"
Tristanu: We were still in combat when we shifted!
Jefferson Harco: it was on the pedestal, and there was a fight and i didnt see it fall, but that must be how we got here.
Tristanu seems to look as if everything is falling into place
Dianysia: "I think it was his death that activated it. It was only a short distance from him, as if he'd dropped it when falling."
Jefferson Harco is happy he figured out what happened...
Tristanu: It must have gotten knocked off of the pedestal at some point...but...what about the...
Jefferson Harco: the what?
Bethany: Looks terrible confused at this whole conversation, in part because she is still quite upset and not as clear thought wise as before, and in part bacuase the whole 'you dieing' conversation has confused her.
Jefferson Harco: i think those golems that attacked us were protecting the artifact
Jefferson Harco: not you, Yu...
Jefferson Harco: the guy who died, his name was You
Dianysia: "Yushaqi must have grabbed it and his death activated it."
Jefferson Harco: wait i remember that i was beside him when he grabbed it
Jefferson Harco: then he pushed a button, and then i was out cold and didnt see him fall...
Tristanu: "There was some text in celestial that formed when we pressed the button in there a second time...it said 'Feed it, then roll it'"
Dianysia looks distracted when the mentioning of pushing the button again occurs, but quickly regains her bearings.
Dianysia: Like I said, I think it was activated by his death. Can you all be quiet one moment? I am going to detect magic on it.
Dianysia casts detecct magic
Dianysia: "I know this was probably a given, it's magical.
Dianysia: "Powerful magic."
Dianysia: It's an orb of sorts...
Tristanu: "Brilliant"
Tristanu: "so...is that the only piece of new information you have to share with us?
Jefferson Harco: why dont we try and recreate the scene again, see if that takes us back?
Dianysia: "Well, that and the fact that something this strong is either an artifact or deity-level spell."
Tristanu: "Forget that...time for some trial runs...if I am correct...this should be ok...Dia, may I see it please?"
Bethany: "We can't all be you and know the right answer one hundred percent of the time Sir," Bethany says, slightly directed her head towards Tristanu.
Dianysia: "Volunteer for the death roll, Jeff? What are you wanting to do with it?"
Tristanu: "Unless you guys have some better ideas...I'm going to give it a toss...but I think it will do nothing...yet"
Jefferson Harco: so you say we have to roll it.
Jefferson Harco: let me trist, you can heal me if i falter.
Jefferson Harco grabs the artifact.....
Dianysia: "And maybe offer a blood sacrifice...I recommend the bag of hot air...
Jefferson Harco: "ok well any other ideas
Tristanu: just throw it already"
Bethany: "Not to threaten death and destruction or anything, but lets not play with the artifact until we know what it is, lest we tempt death and destruction?"
Dianysia: "Well, maybe disperse all relevant information? Tirst, can Pally's tell if this is good or evil?
Tristanu: knock it out of Jeff's hand
DM: it's sent spinning out of Jeff's hands
DM: aaand... no effect, other than it bounces
DM: and rolls to a stop across the floor
Jefferson Harco: "What was that for Trist? you could have got me killed..."
Dianysia: "You try something that reckless again, Tristanu, and I will kill you myself."
Tristanu breathes a sigh of mild relief then says "It has not been fed"
Bethany: Looks up at Dianysia, "You should put it away.
Jefferson Harco: smack Trist
Jefferson Harco: because he scared me by knocking it out
Jefferson Harco: like a backhand of sorts
Tristanu rubs his chin...then laughs..."Guess I deserved that"
Dianysia: "Do you want to come with us, Beth?"
Dianysia: "And more, you arrogant, little... I thought you weren't the normal Pally... god, I'm an idiot." Dia looks more hurt than angry
Bethany: "Where are you going?"
Dianysia: "A different plane, hopefully home." Dia picks oup the block, holding it close to her body, sheltered in both arms.
Dianysia: "Our home is much easier than this nutty place.
Tristanu looks hurt at Dia's reaction...and suddenly realizes that he has lost touch with his pure sanity
Bethany: "You are seeing the worst of this world," Beth replies, "It is not all bad, but like I keep saying, this is hell."
Dianysia: "I come from a place wehere everyone is equal. Do you want to come with us?"
Bethany: "Honestly? I wouldn't know how to answer that," Bathany replies, sitting down on the bed and leaning against the save wall.
Bethany: "I learned long ago, the grass is not greener on the otherside."
Dianysia: "That's a yes or no, Reese. You go lower ...uh... tech, but things make sense, orcs tdon'tr rule the world, and people are usually generally good...
Bethany: "I am not Reese, but it warms my heart that the one person who I was beginning to trust can not even remember my name."
Dianysia: "So, would you like to come or not? Feel free to go catch your ship if you must, but do so now."
Tristanu looks to Dia with a mildly forlorn expression..."You are right...I can no longer protect you"...then makes his way to the cavern exit and heads into the world without a further word.
Dianysia: "Trist... please don't..."
Bethany: "Dianysia, this is not a choice I can make lightly. I have nothing here but knowledge, I have nothing everywhere else."
Jefferson Harco: We are not getting anywhere...
Jefferson Harco: "I think we need to go back to the temple and reconstruct what happened before
Dianysia: "Sorry." Dia turns around, back to the group, cuts one hand with her knife, drawing blood, then rolls the dice with the bleeding hand...
DM: the artifact leaves Dia's hand to bounce on the floor, rolling a few times before coming to a stop... and suddenly the room is filled with the odor of fresh tilled earth, perhaps a garden... and although you don't know why, all of you get the impression that the smell is coming from the artifact... and simultaneously, the lights go out.
Dianysia: "Roll call?"
Bethany: crack a glow stick)
Jefferson Harco: nimbus of light
Jefferson Harco: i examine the room for any noticable changes
Dianysia: *mentally notes the tin side is facing up* Umm... Beth, you here?
Bethany: "Ok, that was weird, interesting scent. Been a long time since I had a garden scent anywhere," Bethany said, the scent bringing a slight smile to her face
Jefferson Harco perks up from his searching...."Somebody has a green thumb...."
Dianysia: "You have a bandage?" Dia asks Beth, keeping an eye on the orb. "It was granite for your home, Beth.
Bethany: "Why do you need a bandage, and what did you do?"
Dianysia: "Gambled. Jeff, if you don't mind, I should pack the artifact up now."
Jefferson Harco: what did you do dia? lets try that again..
Dianysia: "We don't know if we're home, Jeff. We have to check first.
Jefferson Harco: ok well bring it with us, and lets check outside
Dianysia wraps the orb back in a blanket, sets it nicely in Jayde's pack. "So, the bandage?"
Jefferson Harco runs outside forgetting about how dia threw the die
Bethany: "What for?" Bethany askes, taking her kit off of her pack.
Dianysia changes back tho her normal outfit, then shoulders her pack.
Dianysia holds out her hand that has significant cuts on both the palm and halfway up the fingers, as if she'd grabbed a dagger. "This."
DM: Jeff, when you run outside... you're faced with the dark hallway that was outside the door. It's... a hallway.
Jefferson Harco: well i search the hallway now
Jefferson Harco: to see if it was like the one before the die roll.
Bethany: "Ugh," Bethany grunts, "Next time you are going to cut yourself use a scalpel," then she points to the bed as if she wants you to sit while she pulls out some thick wiry string and curved needles
DM: as far as you can tell Jeff, from examining the area within 5 ft. of the door (all you can search in a short time), it's identical... except for the lack of light
Dianysia: "uhm... that's not a bandage..."
Jefferson Harco: "Bob, you there?"
Dianysia: "Probably not..." Dia whispers.
DM: Jeff - no answer
Bethany: "You're right," Beth said, "You need more then a bandage."
Jefferson Harco: i investigate the lack of response.
Jefferson Harco: "Trist, you there?"
Dianysia: "No, I don't. I'll be fine once it heals. Not even a scar."
Dianysia: "Thanks, though."
Bethany: "Not how the body works sweetie..."
DM: Jeff - still no response
Dianysia: "What do you mean?"
Jefferson Harco: um physically search the immediate surroundings
Jefferson Harco: down halls, in rooms, under tables.
Bethany: "Unless the wound is held shut, then it will bleed for a while still, and the scar tissue will be awfully thick," Beth says.
DM: Jeff, the hallway leads off left or right from the room with the others... left was towards the common room (after more than a few twists & turns), right was a couple more rooms before ending - one of those was yours, one of those was trist's
Jefferson Harco: towards trist and mine rooms
Jefferson Harco: does the hallway look the same...i.e. still made of same material, not like dirt or something
Dianysia: "No, not for me. You don't get it. I am a shifter... I change forms. SA scar won't show if I don't want it to. Bleeding will staunch soon enough if we bandage it properly."
DM: okay... other than the lack of light, you can find nothing amiss... your room is essentially untouched... Tristanu's room has all of his gear (backpack, armor, shield), but no sign of him in it
Jefferson Harco: back out towards the common room
Bethany: "Well if scarring is not your concern, I have something better then a bandage," Beth says, pulling a vial of a silver like liquid and a piece of a strange hemp like stuff (cotton) on a wooden stick. She screws off the bottle cap of the vial, and dips the cotton into it, then says, "This will sting more then just a little bit."
Dianysia: "Yeah, cutting it in the first place wasn't a piece of cake, you know."
DM: okay... Jeff, you make it to the door in the hallway, and on opening you're faced with a left or right choice (left was towards common room, right was towards another set of rooms, including where Beth had been) - both of which are showing light around more corners
Dianysia: "Trist is stuck... and it's all my fault...that's what he feared most..."
Jefferson Harco: ok i move quietly to the common room
Bethany: Bethany takes a hold of your arm above the cut, and starts to rub the cotton over the 'uncut' skin, digging it back into the bottle occasionally, then changing out the cotton for a piece of gauze, she pats the wound with it, pushing slightly into the wound. (Using silver nitrate to cauterize the wound)
Dianysia grits her teeth and bears it. "I'm sorry, Beth, about this... Somebody had to do something, though..."
DM: okay... Jeff, you head down to the corner, and peek around... onto to be confronted with the tunnel ending at an odd angle, with daylight shining through from an obvious forest... leaves & branches are scattered on the ground half-covering the end of the tunnel
Jefferson Harco: move closer to see out the hole.
Jefferson Harco: still moving quietly and hidingly
Bethany: "Something does not mean gamble with others peoples lives. You know, I was on my way to visit my fathers grave?" Bethany says, finishing up with the wound, and putting her equipment away.
DM: okay... you creep up to the end of the tunnel... and you find yourself looking out into a dense forest... in some ways similar to the forest that was outside of the temple, but the trees are different... and MUCH taller... some actually appear to be well over 100 ft. tall
DM: you also notice that the sun is higher in the sky than it should have been... it wasn't dawn yet when you came into the caves following Bob... less than 2 hours have passed... but the sun is already almost half-way to noon
Dianysia: "Staying gambled with more lives. I'm sorry. That's all I can say. I'm sorry to take you from your father's grave. My father's probably wondering what's happened to me and Mom's wishing I had just joined the church like a good little girl. Maybe if I had, none of this would have happened... Trist would be home and sane, Yushaqi would be home, you'd be home."
Jefferson Harco: now head back
Bethany: Smiles lightly, "Never blame yourself for past decisions, it took me a very long time to learn that, but it is the most important thing you will ever know."
Dianysia: "Never blame yourself... Did you see the look on Trist's face? I was the reason he left. If I'd kept my mouth shut, he'd still be here!
DM: Jeff - you turn back to head back to the other two... and you take a few steps down the corridor when you notice a large (man-sized) cat looking at you... despite any normal inclinations you might have, for some reason facing this leopard doesn't worry you at all... instead, it feels strangely... trustworthy. Meanwhile, you have a flash of insight as to what you must look like to this thing... disheveled, in odd clothing... and glowing. ((you never turned off your nimbus - makes for harder hiding, btw))
Bethany: "Self doubt can come from any where, if you blame yourself and punish yourself for decisions past, then you will forever be useless to those who need you, and right now me and Jeff need you. I'm smart, but you are a different kind of smart."
Deladriel cocks her head in curiosity at the being that has approached
Jefferson Harco: i still attempt to move past it...trying to move slow so it doesn't get startled
Deladriel is a medium sized leopard
Dianysia shrugs, obviously unaccustomed to heart-to-hearts and shifts, then moves to the door, noting that Jeff hasn't returned yet. "Speaking of Jeff, we should go find him."
Deladriel sticks out a (claws retracted) paw as if to say "hold"
Jefferson Harco: "Friend?!"
Deladriel lets forth a mild growl and begins to change...
Bethany: "He has probably run down the hall, tripped, and angered some locals who are now preparing to make a meal of him," Bethany says, throwing her pack on.
Deladriel the cat before you slowly melds into the form of a very tall (6'5") elf with Purple hair and green eyes...her clothing seems the like of someone who has lived off the land for her entire life...
Dianysia summons Jayde to her. "Thank you, by the way, Beth."
Jefferson Harco prepares for the worst...
Jefferson Harco: Who are you?
Jefferson Harco: and how did you get here?
Bethany: "You are welcome, now lead on and see why the lights went out."
Deladriel speaks a language you cannot comprehend
Dianysia kneels, ruffles Jayde. "No, you've got the light. you need to be in front. Besides, I've got to let Jayde here nknow I'm okay."
Jefferson Harco is puzzled at the talking leopard
Jefferson Harco: Beth...a little help here.. ( yelled past del )
(1048) Bethany: Unclips the holster of her pistol, then steps out into the hallway, looking towards the sound.
Jefferson Harco: Beth, Dia a little help here...this lion dont speak my language....
Dianysia: "Did.. I ..just.. hear... that... right?"
Bethany: "It is Jeff..."
Dianysia follows Beth cautiously
Jefferson Harco: Do....you....under....stand.....me....
Deladriel nods cautiously then holds her hand up with the index finger and thumb close together in front of her right eye
DM: okay... the two of you come out the door to the room... to see Jeff glowing down at the end of the hallway, face-to-face with an elf (scroll up for physical description) whose side is to you... Dela, you can see the two of them come out into the hallway, as a human in VERY strange clothing is carrying some strangely glowing stick... followed by a Sun Elf and a dog in tow
Deladriel really looks confused at the sight of the human
Dianysia: "What's your poroblem, Jeff?"
Bethany: "Its another of those orc things," turning to you Dianysia, "What do you call them again?"
Jefferson Harco: this cat....phff....hehehe...
Dianysia: "Elves... Wood Elf...."
(1048) Bethany: Looking towards the new 'elf' then at Jeff, then back to Dianysia, "Well she isn't eatting him yet..."
Jefferson Harco: she tried talking to me but i don't understand
Dianysia: I'm rather disappointed, actually.
Jefferson Harco: very funny girls...
Deladriel turns to Dia and says ((in elven)) "You can understand me?"
Jefferson Harco: what did she say?
Jefferson Harco: did you guys understand that...
Jefferson Harco: this is like when we first met you beth....
Bethany: "She said, 'Dianth tal fornei'"
Jefferson Harco: oh ok that makes complete sense....
Jefferson Harco leans towards Del and says "Peace?!"
Dianysia: "Nice translation Beth." Then in Elven, "Yes, clearly."
Dianysia: "Umm... Jeff.. proximaty control much?"
Jefferson Harco: what?
Deladriel: E- "Good...you are not hurt? Where did you come from?"
Jefferson Harco: just find out what is she doing?
Dianysia: "Now, where's the lion?": asks Dia.
Dianysia: "No, not hurt. Why do you ask?"
Jefferson Harco: right in front of you
Deladriel: ((In common)) No no...not lion
Jefferson Harco: She speaks?!
Dianysia: "What do you think she's been doing, you dolt?"
Jefferson Harco: i mean my language
Jefferson Harco: i mean our langauge
Jefferson Harco: i mean a common language between us all
Deladriel: E- "Please translate him that I am no lion...bad idea...not proper these parts...translate Leopard"
Dianysia: "She says she's a leopard, not a lion. Besides, if she were a lion, she'd be a lioness."
Dianysia: E - Who are you?
Jefferson Harco: a leopard...well we need to figure out where we are.....
Jefferson Harco is so confused he walks out into the forest
Deladriel: E-"I am called Deladriel...you call me 'Del'"
Dianysia: E - Dia. Pleasure."
Deladriel nods
Deladriel: E-"Why you try to destroy forest?
Dianysia: E - Long story. It doesn't appear we parked where I wanted.
Dianysia: "Beth, can you check on Jeff?"
Deladriel: E-"Parked?"
Dianysia: "He doesn't do well on his own."
Deladriel: E-"Funny man need not go far....danger out there"
Dianysia: E - "Uh... landed?"
DM: Jeff - it's a forest... a LARGE forest... trees in all directions, as far as the eye can see... which is not very far, considering how many trees there are
Deladriel: E-"You came from nowhere"
Jefferson Harco: yeah but i just walk out into the open
Deladriel: E-"No...Bird lands...you come from nowhere"
Dianysia: E - "I can't explain. I don't quite understand it myself.
Deladriel: E-"Many trees fall to your house"
Dianysia: E -"This isn't my house."
Deladriel: E-"Tree spirits don't like"
Jefferson Harco: i try and climb a tree....
Dianysia: E _ "Believe me, I'm not happy about it either. I'd never willingly destroy a forest.
Deladriel cocks her head
Dianysia: "Jeff, come back here. SHE says it's dangerous."
DM: ok, Jeff... you're climbing up a tree...
Deladriel: "Yes...danger"
Deladriel: E-"We must leave...not safe here"
Dianysia: E - "Will you excuse me. I have to save our local idiot."
Deladriel snickers
Dianysia: E _ "Fine, lead the way.
Dianysia: "She says we need to leave. It's bnot safe here. I trust her. She seems to be an upstanding leaopard."
Deladriel: "Please down" ((To Jeff)) "Around me" ((To everyone else))
Bethany: "You trust her when she says that, but when I say that, you ignore me? I have to say I am a little upset..."
Dianysia: "And her name is Deladriel, by the way," she says to all. "Beth, she's a leopard. Who doesn't trust a talking elven leopard?"
Jefferson Harco: and down....coming Beth
Deladriel is stopping near a small area of moist...almost muddy...earth
Dianysia gathers around.
Bethany: "Well, elves still look like orcs to me, so can't say I trust them... besides you're an elf and it turns out you are not, so..."
Dianysia: E - "Why are you playing in...mud?"
Dianysia: "I can explain to you what I am, but not here and now."
Deladriel: E-"Danger has smell...you must pass here without scent"
Dianysia: E - "Okay, I won't pass gas.
Deladriel: E-"You must blend with the earth"
Deladriel gathers some mud upon her hands and moves to smear it upon Dia
Dianysia: "She says we can't pass gas here. It's dangerous, apparently."
Dianysia: E - "Eewwww! What in the heck?"
Dianysia dodges away from the mud
Deladriel looks very confused
Deladriel: E-"What is wrong? Want different mud?"
Dianysia: E _ "I don't want mud!"
Deladriel: E-"You prefer peat?"
Dianysia: E - "Peat? For what?"
Deladriel: E-"You not like this mud. I find you something different."
Dianysia: E - "For what?"
Deladriel giggles
Deladriel: E-"For covering...you must blend" *Reaches to smear you again*
Dianysia dodges again. E - "Yes... uh... different mud... maybe more clay-ish. She likes this kind of mud, though..."
Dianysia gestures at Beth while speaking.
Deladriel looks toward Beth
Deladriel motions for Beth to come to her
Bethany: "If Mud touches me, so help me..."
Bethany: Bethany closes her eyes momentarily then focuses her gaze on the 'mud patch'
Dianysia: "Beth, she says she's doing this for our safety."
Jefferson Harco: How come no one is smearing mud on me?
Dianysia: E - "He wants you to smear mud on him... be careful, tohough, he may enjoy it))
DM: okay... the mud would start to warm up slightly... Dela, you'd feel it start to grow very warm...
Deladriel gathers some new mud (I assume I need to) and begin smearing Jeff
Dianysia: E - "I'll hel p you with that." me moves over to the mud, and shcoops some, throwing it at Beth.
Deladriel: E-"That one has good magic...but I no understand her reasons"
DM: okay... Beth, you've been hit by flying mud
Deladriel laughs at Dia's mud slinging and slings some at her
** (1053) Jefferson Harco helps smear mud over his body..."why are we covering up with mud?" **
DM: del, that's a miss
Bethany: "Enough with the mud," Beth says looking a little annoyed, "Am I the only adult here?"
Jefferson Harco: "are we having a mud fight?"
Jefferson Harco: I pick up mud and fling at Dia
DM: that went INTO the clothing at Dia
Jefferson Harco: i yell "Dia maybe you should tackle Beth into the slop right there.
Bethany: Beth closes her eyes a moment, then says "Enough." Which is echoed very loudly
Deladriel: Ready an action to tackle Dia
Deladriel: and shifted to Leopard
Dianysia: "Beth, get over it. We have to cover ourselves in mud. We may as well have some fun with it.
Dianysia globs some mud and throws it at Del
DM: lol, WHIFF
Deladriel: Use my readied tackle after Dia's attack
Bethany: "We do not have to cover ourselves, and if it is dangerous, I don't think playing is a great idea."
DM: Dela pounces at Dia, and connects, trying to bear her to the ground... and after a little struggle...
DM: Dela... you're in the mud
Bethany: Rolls her eyes, and steps back into the enterance of the 'cave'
Deladriel: form into elf and attempt to trip Dia from prone
DM: I'm thinking... not so successful
Dianysia drops into the mud, too, laughing.
Deladriel points at jeff
Deladriel: E-"looks like a muddy log
Jefferson Harco: What are you pointing at?
Dianysia: "You."
Jefferson Harco: Why me?
Deladriel: E- "We must leave now...you not be here when dark"
Dianysia: "Why not?"
Dianysia: "She says we have to leave now, before dark. Let me go talk with Beth.:
Deladriel: E- "Clean one must blend...we have trouble if not"
Jefferson Harco is confused to why people have stopped flinging mud?
Dianysia seeks out Beth.
Deladriel shifts back to Leopard form and follows Dia at a distance...ears turning like sonars listening to the surrounds
Dianysia: "Come on Beth, we've got to go, and you need to be covered in mud. She says it makes us blend in. She also says that we need t be gone. BEFORE dark."
Bethany: "I am not going to be covered in mud, just because I am an 'old' world doesn't mean I have to live old, I'd like to remain clean if you don't mind, Bethany says, getting ready to move again.
Jefferson Harco is still rolling around in the mud...as he says to himself..."Fine, leave, more for me...."
Dianysia: Beth, think about it, just for a moment. If the norms change into cats, we're easy prey unless we mask our scents. The mud can help with that. I've already gt at least one person... insane... don't do this to me again."
Bethany: "I'd rather take my chances, we will be fine," Bethany replies, "Now are we going?"
Jefferson Harco: wee mud is so tingly between my toes
Jefferson Harco now stands up and is covered completely in mud
Jefferson Harco: I'm going to climb a tree now..weee
Dianysia: "You don't get it, do you? I'm not worried about you, but you're risking my life and Jeff's because you can't grow the heck up."
Deladriel growls lowly to Dia and waits to get eye contact...then looks off into the distance in the direction we should travel
Dianysia: "I think she wants to travel that (points) direction."
DM: Jeff, with how much mud you're coated in... you wouldn't be able to HOLD ON TO the tree... lol
Bethany: "Trust me, anything that can find us with scent can find us with our without mud on us, this is just a local superstition," Bethany replies, "Even if it was not the case, you've made the same gamble, why am I not allowed?"
Deladriel begins to prowl slowly off...ears constantly turning to each little sound
Jefferson Harco: lol im just waiting now...
Jefferson Harco: waiting for the decision on which way to go
Bethany: Bethany sets off after the leopard.
Dianysia: "You know, I actually felt bad for dragging you along, but you are so arrogant and self-centered. Tristanu was right."
Jefferson Harco follows the group behind the lion
Dianysia follows the leaopard.
Dianysia: "If you draw someone to us.. you're on your own."
Bethany: "So be it, but anything that comes onto us would of come to us regardless of the mud. At the least, the flies will be bothering with you and will leave me alone."
