Session 16, July 7th, 2007

Bethany: Beth looks around the area, scanning the environment, and mentions, "Does anyone else feel that, like you're being watched?"

Dianysia: "Nah, don't feel it myself. Doesn't mean we aren't being watched."

Dianysia looks around to see if I can see anyone.

Deladriel looks around apprehensively

Dianysia: "I don't see anyone, but perhaps we should keep a closer eye out. Just so you know, it's likely that we're being followed."

Bethany: "Why is that?" Bethany asks.

Dianysia: D - "Elves like forests. It's obvious, given Del, that there are elves here. Therefore, there may be some following us. Hope not though."

Deladriel is scanning the road carefully as we travel

Bethany: Replying in draconic, "Why, I thought you said elves were good?"

Dianysia: D - "They are. They are also very good at protecting their borders from intruders. They'll usually not attack, though, just approach and question to determine if friend or foe."
Dianysia: D - "They are the best spies and scouts, and can follow you for miles without you ever knowing."

Bethany: D- "Sounds like a shady lot to me, always tried to avoid that type where I am from," Bethany replied, "Can't trust that which hides itself."

Dianysia: D - "No, it's not like that. They're just naturally quiet and stealthy. It's how their race survives."

Deladriel: ( unless otherwise persuaded...Del just leads the group to town...she is anxious to get these very "out of place" people out of these woods )

Bethany: Bethany shrugs, then says, "Why hide though if we are wrong and entering their land, and if not in their land, why would they be following us. That is why they are not trustworthy, they rather skulk instead of confront." in draconic.

Dianysia: D - "They gather information on us, see what our motives are. If we are peaceful, then they may well leave us be. It's not unless we became a danger to them that they need worry or act."

Bethany: D- "They could get this information by simply asking?"

DM: Without warning, a figure steps from around a tree, bow drawn and an arrow nocked but not readied. He stands five feet tall, is very gracefully built, and sports chestnut-colored hair. His ears are distinctly pointed, and he wears a suit of chain mail covered in a forest green tabard with the image of a rising sun emblazoned on the front. He speaks in Draconic, smiling slightly. "Sometimes. But the wrong sort often lies. Please don't do anything rash now, I'd hate to have to kill you before getting the chance to question you."

Deladriel growls at the elf in a non-menacing way and lays upon the ground to signify peace and non aggression

Dianysia: "See?"

Bethany: D- "Now, was the threat really needed?" Bethany says, looking at the elf.

Dianysia: D - "Of course it wasn't needed. Neither is half our prattle. It was made however."

DM: D - "Necessary? Perhaps not. But certainly prudent, when dealing with an assassin."

Dianysia: D - "Certainly prudent. I'll let you know should I come across an assassin. Anything else I may help you with?"

Deladriel shifts to elven form..."They come with a friend of the city"

DM: The elf takes a half-step backwards as Deladriel shifts, two more elves stepping out from behind other trees at the same time. Elven - "I... see. You claim authority over this group, then?"

Dianysia looks mildly impressed, absently wondering if there are more elves hidden.

Deladriel: "I do...also bring news of the wood...there is much strange happening"
Deladriel bows..."I am Deladriel"

DM: Immediately on hearing Deladriel's acknowledgment of authority, the two elves most recently appeared raise their bows, taking aim at the group, and the one in the lead's face hardens into a scowl. "I see. Then I hereby place all of you under arrest. Do not resist, and you will not be slaughtered."

Dianysia: E - "Under what charges? I have done naught to you."

Deladriel: "Woods not the only place strange I see"

Bethany: D- "Dianysia, remember when I said I didn't trust our new friend last night, I am starting to have actual evidence for it..."

Deladriel looks to Dia..."We best just listen to him...we can sort out later"
Deladriel: "You speak of assassin...has one been killed?"

DM: the Elf whistles sharply, as four more elves appear out of the woods. (In Draconic) "Hah. Talk of trust is funny, coming from an assasin." Switching to Elven: "The charges are assassination and conspiracy to commit assassination." In Common, to make sure that all are understood: "You will be manacled. Any who resist will be shot. No more talk now, it will wait until we return to the city."

Dianysia: D - "Of course you don't. Seeing as one, or all of us are being accused of being an assassin or some such, neither do I..."
Dianysia: E - Silver bracelets.. lovely."

Deladriel offers her hands to be bound

DM: Two of the most recent arrivals step forward with manacles, quickly and professionally fitting them on all without speaking a word.

(1819) Bethany: Bethany looks over at Dela, then Dianysia, a very annoyed look on her face, as she stood in place waiting for the 'orcs' to do their thing, thinking only about the many years she had avoided this, and that she should've known better.

Deladriel: "You may hurry...Rain comes" ((To the head guard))

Dianysia: As soon as the menacles are placed on Dia's wrists, her form changes significantly. Although she still retains her height (5'10"), she she becomes very pale, with silvery hair and white eyes.
Dianysia: "Anti - magic?" Dia asks, obviously annoyed.

Deladriel takes a step back from Dia with a look of utter shock, horror, and betrayal on her face

DM: The only elf that's spoken just shrugs at Dia's question, the others not acknowledging the question at all.

Deladriel begins talking to herself in another language

Dianysia: "And the cat is looking betrayed. Figures. Only one who cares is a shifter herself.”

Bethany: "Well I knew."

Jefferson Harco: "Its not that I don't care, but appearances are just that, its not like its a window to the mind"

Deladriel: "I no care about you not being elf. you lie to me"

Dianysia: "When did I lie?"

Deladriel: "You say you Sun elf...and these your people...I think you from big sun elf city, magic go wrong and find you here...why you not tell me truth?

Dianysia: "You never asked. Besides, I was raised as a sun elf, to be a sun elf. Like your cat form, I rarely shed that form. It's what I am."

Deladriel: "I ask you if you claim these two as yours...you make pact, claim them for your own...you no elf, cannot claim these people"
Deladriel: "Now you make me fool...as I make pact and claim you" She begins talking heatedly to herself in the other language again

Dianysia just glare's at Del. "You make a fool of yourself now. I have done no wrong to you other than being born. If this is an issue, get over it. I have been born and that is not going to change. Anything else you'd like to know? My blood type?"

Deladriel: "You ruin me...everything I been...this no small matter...I am now responsible for you. You trick me"

DM: The one guard that has been speaking thus far shushes all of you at this point, and now that all of you have been manacled, the elven guards take up positions around you, leading you down the path in the direction you were already traveling, and in just a few minutes you come across an open wagon, which they put you into and immediately start down the road to the city at about double the speed you'd been making
DM: any attempts to talk amongst yourselves gets met with shushing from the same elf that was speaking before... and inside of half an hour, a grand city comes into view, set at the edge of the forest, straddling a fairly wide and bright blue river. Beyond the river extend plains, rolling hills for as far as the eye can see.

Dianysia pets Jayde, keeping her calm.
Dianysia chuckles. "Well , at least the view is nice.

DM: The elf turns around, and just glares a repeated warning at Dia.

Deladriel looks around..."The city of Bryneklin." she says before being shushed again

Dianysia smiles in amusement

DM: The wagon is driven inside the gates, and through another smaller set into a courtyard of what is obviously some sort of military structure - the prevalence of guards wearing identical tabards to those worn by your escorts establishes this fact.
DM: The three of you are led off the wagon and into a small room occupied only by a table with benches down either side, large enough for six elves to sit at (3 to a side). The door closes behind the three of you, leaving you alone now.

Deladriel sits

Dianysia sits quietly, assuming that they're still watching us somehow.

Deladriel absent mindedly licks the back of her hand

Dianysia: "You realize you're in elf-form, right?" Dia says with a smile.

Deladriel stops licking and regards her hand for a moment..."Yes...habit I think"

Bethany: D- "Nothing to smile about here, they are going to kill us you know, they just want to make sure we don't know anything," Bethany says before taking a seat on the bench.

Dianysia: "You spend more time in cat form then elven, don't you?'
Dianysia sighs and rolls her eyes. "Of course they are, so why not spend your time happy?"

Deladriel: "Safer in woods while cat...travel faster too"
Deladriel: "Can sleep in trees as cat...very safe at night"

Dianysia: "I'll have to remember that."

Deladriel: "Not help any of you much...predators can climb trees too"
Deladriel: "Must be the predator if you not wish to be the prey"

Bethany: "I am not afraid of woodland creatures, there is not really much out there that would worry me," Bethany replied, looking at the shackles and observing them.

Dianysia: "Of course they can. But they can also walk on land and fly in the air, so what does it matter if I choose to sit in a tree or walk the forest paths?"

Deladriel: "Nor I...But Life spent in peace with wood much easier than defense of life all the time"

Dianysia: "Oh, I agree whole-heartedly. I get along well with most animals myself. I am more suited, however, to live a life of magic.
Dianysia: "So what are youu, anyways? A druid?"

Deladriel: "Druid is what many may call me. No claim the word myself, nor reject it. I follow the path of the earth."

Dianysia: "I follow a path of knowledge personally."

Deladriel: "You and your friends...where you come from?"

Dianysia: "Not here, obviously."

Deladriel: "If you truly assassin...they will kill you"

Bethany: "A better place then this, at least at home I know the land."

Deladriel: "You come from other city then? Make big magic go boom?"

Dianysia: "Yes, and no," Dia says. "Not such a big city."

Deladriel: "Which city you come from?"

Dianysia: "A distant one. Doubt you'd know it's name."

Bethany: "This is not a large city," Beth says with a snort and a grin.

Deladriel: "Thought you came from the sun elf city...the capitol"

Dianysia smmiles. "If you know from where I came, why ask?"

Deladriel: "I not know for sure...but I assume"
Deladriel: "One of you truly assassin?"

Dianysia: "None of us assassins."

Bethany: "I've never killed a living being until those orcs the other night, I hope that doesn't make me an assassin."

Dianysia: "You're not an assassin. I'm not. Are you?"
Dianysia: (Last part to Del)

Deladriel: "Many chance of assassin...I friends with this city...but no reason to do so"
Deladriel: "You kill Orcs? That no make you assassin...they trample our lands...we will kill them all"

Bethany: "Heh, Orcs fight eachother here too?"

Deladriel: "No...Elves fight orcs...orcs try invade our cities...but we keep their population down"

Dianysia: "Orcs are a brutish race with no purpose other than destruction. Of course they're killed

Deladriel: "Someone comes"

Dianysia: E - "Are you enjoying yourself out there?"

DM: you hear the lock on the door being opened, as it swings back out into the hallway, revealing the sight of two soldiers in tabards behind and flanking a single elf, wearing dark blue robes and leaning lightly on a polished onyx staff (obviously the staff was what two of you heard). This elf, unlike all those you have seen previously, is obviously quite old, showing his age in the many wrinkles on his face. "I don't know, should I be enjoying myself?"

Dianysia: "Well, I figured it'd be more comfortable in here, but I wasn't sure whether or not to invite you if you were enjoying yourself."

Deladriel looks at dia as if she had lost her mind
Deladriel: "You are here for questions, yes?"

DM: "Cute. And is this banter an attempt to make yourself seem more confident than you really are? After all, were I in your shoes I would be rather concerned."

Dianysia: "Probably here for answers, actually."
Dianysia: "If you were in my shoes, you'd be rather uncomfortable, but no, this isn't bravado. I know I've done naught and will be cleared."

Deladriel: "We get started now sir?"

Dianysia: "As I see it, you either believe us and free us, or you don't and we die. Why bother mourning either eventuality?"

DM: "Believe you about what, exactly? Thus far, I have not asked any questions."

Deladriel: "Dia...you make this take longer...please let man question us"

Dianysia: "About whether we're assassins or not. Now, I don't know how long you've been listening, but we have explained that we are not."

Deladriel: "You say 'not from here'...now obvious"

DM: "Ah, now we get somewhere. You deny your role in the assassination. Why should I believe you?"

Dianysia: "Why not? We've done noaught to you, we haven't been hiding our tracks, we didn't resist you, we were caught... What more do you need?"

Deladriel: "I have long been friend of elves...some out there know me well"

DM: "Evidence, perhaps? Oh, I admit we have nothing on the two of you save your association with her." Here, the oldster points at Beth briefly. "But of course you should be highly familiar with the concept of accessory to a crime. And I'm afraid we do have several witnesses against this one." Here he gestures at Beth again. "I am one of them."
DM: "Although I must admit, I find your attire at this point much more stylish, if rather unorthodox, than your attire last even

Dianysia: "She won't even consume coney and you think she's an assassin? You're amusing."
