Session 27, October 13th, 2007

Gurin: "Hey, where's fish-breath? He's been gone a while."

Braids: "Eh," Braids says, scribbling more notes on piece of paper.

Gurin: "..."

Torie: "Porbably hitting something, or the like..." Torie says, "Although... his recklessness probably got him in trouble."

Gurin: "I think we should all go check on him. I don't want either of you two alone."

Jefferson Harco: "HELP... SOMEONE HELP..."

Torie: "I will be fine dear, thank you, plus this girl is glued to this stuff..." Torie says pointing to Braids.

Gurin: "No. He went off alone, and now he's missing. I don't think doing the same thing again is very smart."
Gurin: "Can't you bring the book with you?"

Torie: "Alright lets go then," Torie says, heading up to the main room.

Gurin: "Miss Amae?"
Gurin: "Are you coming?"

Braids: Doesm't really seem to register your comment at all, as she starts speaking something under her breath related to her decoding in some form.

Gurin growls

Gurin: "Miss Torie, please stay and watch Miss Amae."
Gurin: "I'll go check on him."

Gurin sits down across the room, waiting for Torie to get back, sulking

Torie: (crawl back under the bed into the lab again when Gurin asks her to stay)

Gurin crawls under the bed, his bulk barely fitting through, and wanders off to the last known place Jeff was at.

DM: last known place, he headed "upwind" in the corridor, which ends at a landing on a staircase... leads either up or down, you have no clue which way he might have gone

Gurin heads upstair, head cocked and listening

Jefferson Harco: "HELP... SOMEONE HELP..."

DM: the stair winds its way around the outside circumference of the tower for about one full rotation before you find yourself at another landing... and you can CLEARLY hear Jeff calling for help... it leads into a large open space, the glow stones that have been providing the light in the rest of the tower are spaced further apart so it's pretty dim in here... there's some sort of metal catwalk stretching into the darkness... he's in there SOMEWHERE, but all you know is his call came from in there
DM: (the wind, and thus the blocking sound, died away the minute you started up the stairs)

Gurin: "Mr. Jeff? Where are you?"

Jefferson Harco: "Down here..."

DM: Jeff, you can see his shadow on the catwalk, he's standing at the door almost directly above you

... ... ...

Jefferson Harco: "... quite the line, I was thinking about a rope... and how did i get here? Let's just say curiousity got this cat."
Jefferson Harco grabs the rope
Jefferson Harco tries to climb the rope back onto the catwalk

DM: you can get yourself just barely out of the water, but you can't make it up the rope... which is how you got yourself into this problem in the first place...

Gurin: all right, I'll just haul him up, he just holds on

Jefferson Harco: yeah i hold

DM: a'ight, so that's got the 2 of you back up to the catwalk

Jefferson Harco: "Thanks, I've been pruning for a bit... where's everyone else?"

Gurin: "Down in the lab. Miss Amae was too absorbed in her book to come look for you. Funny how her priorities work."
Gurin: "Well, they seem to be okay down there. After we get you dried off, let's keep going."

Jefferson Harco: "ok lets go."

Gurin: so we head back down to the lab...

Gurin: "I got him, Misses. If we want to stick to the geas, though, we should probably get after that bastard assassin."

Torie: "Yes, don't know how long my lock will hold," Torie says, looking as the two figures come down the hall. "Took a bath?"

Jefferson Harco: "It was that time of the year...."

Torie: "Maybe we can stay at the good inns now.."

Gurin wrinkles his nose in disgust
Gurin smirks

Gurin: "Miss Amae? I know you're not obligated, but I'd feel better if you joined us, at least outside her room."

Braids: Waves him off, "I'll be fine here Artemis."

Gurin: "Um..Gurin?"
Gurin shakes his head, resigned to her fascination
Gurin: "Let's go, Miss and Mister."

Torie: "Alright," Torie says, then casts a spell on Braids. (Message) "Lets go."

DM: a'ight... then reaching the bottom of the stairs, you can see that the rope is still stretched taut across the hallway, showing at first glance that the assassin is presumably still safely held in her room

Gurin silently holds up three fingers, counting down...

Torie: "What are you doing?" Torie says, walking down the hall, untying the stinky rope.

Gurin smacks his head at her noise

Gurin: "Who knows if she got loose?"

DM: and y'know, it doesn't matter HOW much you handle it, there is just NO getting used to that stench... that rope is just PUTRID

Torie: GIves up with the smell and just cuts the rope. "If she got loose, she is gone, or we are dead, so silence wont help us much."

Gurin: "I love the confidence."

Torie: "Not everything is as straightforward in life as you knightly types try and make them," she says.

Gurin hisses in mock pain.

DM: oddly enough... as you cut the rope... the section with the knot at one end is unaffected, but the other section almost seems to ROT, as it decays quickly (over a period of a couple seconds) and turns to dust

Torie: Pulling her sword, and readying it, she opens the door slowly.

Gurin stares at the rope.
Gurin: "Oh, NOW you're cautious.
Gurin draws his sword, readying an attack.

DM: Gabi is still tied, sitting up against the wall in the far corner. She glances up as the door starts to move, then apparently seeing who is at the door, simply closes her eyes once again without a word and leans her head back against the wall.

Torie: "Ahh, you're awake... got a headache?" Torie says, moving towards Gabi, holding her sword towards Gabi, "Gurin, check her bindings."

Gurin checks her bindings.
Gurin: "They're fine."
Gurin: chuckles. "For all your playing at being uncaring, you seem to have been trying pretty hard to escape."

DM: Gabi makes no move to even acknowledge your speech

Torie: "Not a surprise," Torie says, sitting on the cot, her sword across her lap. "Give Braids a little time, then we'll head out."

Gurin walks around the room slowly. You see his fits tighten, white-knuckled, then he whirls around and punches Gabi's face with all his might (without the gauntlet).

DM: you whirl around... only to realize that she's nowhere NEAR where you expected... and punch at empty air

Torie: "Trying to scare her dear?" Torie says.

Gurin glares at Torie, then clenches his fist again and brings it to his side. He turns and sits against the wall, not saying a word.

DM: Jeff, what're you up to since returning to the 3rd floor?

Jefferson Harco: Just standing outside the door, trying to imagine about the flowers and kisses the others in the room are giving our prisoner
Jefferson Harco: not looking in...

Gurin: After an hour, Gurin gets up and roughly throws Gabi over his shoulder.
Gurin: "Let's go."

Jefferson Harco come back into the room
Jefferson Harco: "Let's get her back to the town."

Gurin nods absently.

Gurin: all right so I carry her up to the room Braids is in and try to get her to leave

Torie: Crawling into the secret room again, Torie says, "Time to go girl," while starting to pack up the books.

Braids: Braids looks up, and says "Not yet..."

Torie: "Come on, need to go," Torie says taking the book from Braids.

Braids: Braids bolts up from her chair, her face missing a smile for a moment, but then the smile comes back, and she says, "Ok," she says, and turns to pack up the rest of the books and papers.

DM: okay, this is taking too long... I'm gonna fast forward us back to the stables level, Gurin's got Gabi in tow, Braids & Torie have the books & papers along with a few half-full flasks of acid, and Jeff is around somewhere

Jefferson Harco: I'm makin sure no one abuses, beyond reasonable means, to our prisoners

Braids: Braids pulls the leather armor out of the bags and starts to go over them.

DM: at the stables, you'll have to come to decision on HOW you're dealing with the prisoner... there is the black horse there (Del has claim on it), which has riding gear... but doesn't have much for the books and papers...

Torie: "Rig a cart of some kind behind the horse, and let her drag on it?" Torie says.

Jefferson Harco: ill sit in the cart with the prisoner

Torie: "You do realize it is going to be a trussle... no wheels, just enough room for one person?"

Gurin: "I say we make her walk, just like the rest of us. On a leash."

Braids: Braids looks up at the horse, and smiles slightly, before climbing up onto it.

Torie: "Why? If she is walking, she can run... plus I don't think she will willingly walk."

Gurin grunts.

Gurin: "We could make her, I'm sure. But fine."

DM: this whole time, Gabi has been simply hanging there limp, completely dead weight, responding to nothing

Braids: As she sits on the horse, Braids scans over the armor, holding a button on her cloak a moment, which glows for a second, then she goes back to scanning the armor.

Gurin: "All right. What are we using for a cart?"

Braids: Braids gives the assassin armor to Torie, "You'll like this," she says, and puts the other suit into a bag.

Jefferson Harco: "um i dont think we got anything..."

Torie: "Get some wood, lash it together, and put a cloak over it, and drop her on it..."

(3626) Gurin: "The lances from the halflings should work. Who's going to lend a cloak?'

DM: alright, so you've got a sledge, made of lances, and we'll say out of the dead churchie's clothing
DM: hokay, so I guess we're heading back towards the halfling town... a little less luggage, but the sledge isn't traveling at full speed, so it really evens out... roughly 2 days' travel, starting out late morning... so you're looking at 2 nights, assuming no interruptions...
DM: what's the marching order for the first day?

Braids: On horse

Gurin: I'd say Gurin first...he's the wall.

Torie: By the sledge sword out

Jefferson Harco: jeff second

DM: alright... nobody notices anything untoward the first day... and making camp for the night... what's the watch rotation gonna be?

Torie: I go first, Gurin, then Jeff and Braids sleeps

DM: alright... then first watch
DM: nothing of note

DM: second watch
DM: nothing of note

DM: third watch

Jefferson Harco moves to the back to the cart and prevents Gabi from escaping
Jefferson Harco: "Hey a little bit of advice, if you don't want the beats you better stop trying to get free...."
Jefferson Harco goes to tie the ropes tighter

DM: as you move in to re-tie her hands, she grimaces, the strange lavender blade appearing suddenly in her hands, as she lunges at you...
DM: and misses...

Jefferson Harco: I yell "shes trying to escape

DM: yup, that'll wake everybody up...

Braids: Braids sits up in her bedroll and says, "Whats the fuss..."

Gurin: is caught in mid-REM, and isn't as quick as usual to dart up

Torie: Torie is a bit faster as she gets up, sword in hand, in armor, near where Gabi had been tied up.

DM: gabi swings at Jeff again, but gets caught up on her ropes, and falls short... so Jeff, you're up

Jefferson Harco: Choosing to take Gabi out with some blows that are not fatal, he attacks for vulnerable spots on the body for some non-lethal damage

DM: both attacks hit
DM: smarts, but she's still going strong... so braids, you're up
DM: all you can see in the dim light is Jeff struggling with the bound captive

Jefferson Harco: free action to activate nimbus

Braids: Braids grabs one of the vials of acid she collected and throws it at Gabi's face.

Gurin: Gurin yells out "Wait!"
Gurin curses.

DM: okay... flasks aren't exactly designed to be thrown, and the acid immediately begins eating through the cork stopper as it's hurled... but it's fairly sturdy glass and does NOT break when it hits Gabi's face... but hits quite hard...
DM: instead, the acid starts sloshing out, as more than a little bit sprays onto Gabi, and a little bit splashes towards Jeff, although he manages to twist out of the way of the worst of it...

Torie: Torie wasn't really in the mood to screw around anymore, and she feints to Gabi's right, then quickly changes in, and tries to stick her rapier in between a pair of ribs.

DM: I think you managed to scratch her pretty good there...

Gurin: All right, free action to draw my sword cause of quick draw, move action to stand up, and another to move over to her

DM: alright, Gabi's back up... and all of you can see now, the acid is eating away not only at Gabi, but at the ropes binding her... which has given her enough play to get her hands maneuvered to cut her feet free... and she starts to move to get up... except that the acid is still eating into HER skin as well... and it's obviously quite painful, as it overcomes her... the lavender short-sword she'd been carrying disappears... and she collapses back down, KO'd again
DM: she's still breathing... but the acid's still eating at her, too

Jefferson Harco: "I clean off the acid, with some of my shirt..."

Gurin sighs.

Gurin: "Let's get some water on that."

Braids: "Was it add water to acid... or acid to water, I can never remember," Braids says, then shrugs and goes back to sleep.

DM: it starts eating your shirt, Jeff... and your hand...

Gurin: "No, you need water or acid burns. Wiping it won't get it all."

Gurin splashes his water skin over the wounds on Jeff and Gabi.

Torie: Torie cleans her blade, and punches Torie three times before she goes back to sleep.

DM: alright, you think you've managed to dilute the stuff enough to keep it from eating into Gabi any more... but she's got some pretty nasty acid burns all across her shoulder and down her front

Gurin surprisingly refrains from punching her.

DM: alright... dawn, and Gabi is still out of it... in the morning light, it's pretty clear that the burns are pretty extensive... most definitely gonna be some scarring
